🔮 College football predictions for top 25
College football picks for every top-25 matchup based on the latest college football odds; subject to change.
🗡️ Northwestern vs. No. 19 USC prediction
- When: Friday, Nov. 7 (9 p.m. ET, FOX)
- Best bet: USC -14.5 (-105 via BetMGM)
💰️ Score prediction: USC 34, Northwestern 17
Northwestern has overachieved to this point in the season at 5-3, but the Wildcats have only played one ranked team, Oregon, and lost by 20. Meanwhile, USC's College Football Playoff hopes remain alive, and the Trojans have been at their best at home behind one of the nation's best offenses. With Jayden Maiava and Makai Lemon leading the way, USC should remain unbeaten at home in a rematch of the 1996 Rose Bowl.

🔴 No. 2 Indiana vs. Penn State prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (noon ET, FOX)
- Best bet: Indiana -14.5 (-110 via DraftKings)
💰️ Score prediction: Indiana 37, Penn State 10
Penn State entered the season as the No. 2 team in the country, and now it must beat the current No. 2 team to end a five-game losing streak. However, interim head coach Terry Smith's squad doesn't stand much of a chance against an Indiana side that has beaten all but one of its opponents this season by double digits and has outscored its last two opponents 111-16. Fernando Mendoza is poised to add to his Heisman campaign against the Nittany Lions, who could beat Penn State worse than No. 1 Ohio State did last week, 38-14.

⬇️ No. 5 Georgia vs. Mississippi State prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (noon ET, ESPN)
- Best bet: Under 57.5 (-110 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Georgia 30, Mississippi State 23
This isn't the Kirby Smart team that destroys every program standing in its way that we saw when Georgia won back-to-back championships. But it's efficient on offense behind the play of QB Gunner Stockton and has enough NFL talent on defense with players like CJ Allen and Christen Miller. With that said, Mississippi State has proven to be a tough team to beat down on; the Bulldogs are 1-4 in SEC play but have lost only one of those games by more than seven. Look for Georgia to control the clock and get out of Starkville with a win.
⬇️ No. 7 BYU vs. No. 8 Texas Tech prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (noon ET, ABC)
- Best bet: Under 52.5 (-110 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Texas Tech 26, BYU 17
The College GameDay game this week is one that will have a massive impact on the College Football Playoff selection committee's rankings on Tuesday. Both BYU and Texas Tech are slotted for the CFP right now, and trending toward playing each other in the Big 12 Championship. But if the Red Raiders don't win, it opens the door for chaos in a conference that has more parity than any other. In the end, Texas Tech's big spending, especially on defense with David Bailey and Romello Height, should make the difference against a BYU team starting a true freshman QB (Bear Bachmeier).
🌰 No. 1 Ohio State vs. Purdue prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (1 p.m. ET, Big Ten Network)
- Best bet: Ohio State -28.5 (-125 via BetMGM)
💰️ Score prediction: Ohio State 45, Purdue 3
Long gone are the days of the Purdue "Spoilermakers," a nickname Purdue earned for knocking off top-ranked Big Ten programs, including taking down No. 2 Ohio State in 2018. Purdue just doesn't have much talent in Barry Odom's first season leading the program, and Ohio State has more talent than any team in the country. This should be a big day for Julian Sayin, Carnell Tate, and Jeremiah Smith on offense, with Sayin set up well to bolster his Heisman buzz. Defensively, Arvell Reese and Caleb Downs could shut the lackluster Boilermakers out.
⬇️ The Citadel vs. No. 6 Ole Miss prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (1 p.m. ET, SEC Network)
- Best bet: Under 64.5 (-110 via FanDuel)
💰️ Score prediction: Ole Miss 52, The Citadel 0
Ole Miss is playing its "SoCon Saturday" game a little earlier than the rest of the SEC this year, with most of the conference set to take on FCS programs the week before Thanksgiving. This should be a blowout win for the Rebels, who are a 53.5-point betting favorite thanks to arguably the most well-rounded offense the team has had during the Lane Kiffin era. With Trinidad Chambliss, Kewan Lacy, and a deep room of pass catchers, this isn't a game you need to pay attention to on Saturday. The bigger thing to focus on in Oxford this week is why it's taking so long for Kiffin to sign an extension at Ole Miss to end the Florida and LSU rumors.
⬇️ No. 3 Texas A&M vs. No. 22 Missouri prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC)
- Best bet: Under 47.5 (-110 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Texas AM 24, Missouri 19
This had a chance to be the game that put an end to Texas A&M's unbeaten season, but instead, the Aggies get to play Missouri with a third-string freshman QB (Matt Zollers) after starter Beau Pribula was lost for the season against Vanderbilt. Still, this game is in Columbia, the Tigers just had a bye to get Zollers ready, and Eliah Drinkwitz's team is loaded on both sides of the trenches. While Marcel Reed and his plethora of weapons should be able to score enough to win, this could be a closer game than many expect, given how much talent Missouri has on defense. Don't expect offensive fireworks with the level these two front sevens are playing at this season.
🐤 No. 9 Oregon vs. No. 20 Iowa prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS)
- Best bet: Iowa +6.5 (-110 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Oregon 24, Iowa 20
It seems everyone is down on Oregon after finding out that the double OT win over Penn State wasn't as impressive as it seemed in the moment. The CFP selection committee put the Ducks at No. 9, and a loss to Iowa could potentially end their shot at the playoff. But while I do think the Hawkeyes' ball control offense and technically sound defense should help Kirk Ferentz's team stay in this one at home, I don't see Dan Lanning dropping this game. The Ducks' offense has too much talent to be shot down, with stars like Dante Moore and Kenyon Sadiq. Plus, Oregon's defense isn't going to give up many points to a one-dimensional offense.
⬇️ Syracuse vs. No. 18 Miami prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN)
- Best bet: Under 45.5 (-110 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Miami 31, Syracuse 6
Mario Cristobal has already hit his quota for losing games that his team has absolutely no business losing, after Miami lost to SMU in OT and Louisville on a Friday night in two of its last three games. That means the Hurricanes will be safe against a Syracuse team that just randomly decided to start a walk-on freshman lacrosse player at QB last week. Fran Brown's Orange proceeded to lose 27-10 at home to Bill Belichick's North Carolina. If Joseph Filardi is starting for Syracuse again, a week after going 4-for-18 for 39 yards against a bad UNC team, he might have trouble completing any passes against a defense led by likely top 10 pick Rueben Bain Jr.
⚓️ Auburn vs. No. 16 Vanderbilt prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (4 p.m. ET, SEC Network)
- Best bet: Vanderbilt -6.5 (-110 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Vanderbilt 27, Auburn 16
Auburn did Hugh Freeze a solid by firing him after the Tigers lost 10-3 to a brutal Kentucky team last week. It saved him the embarrassment of having to lose to Diego Pavia for a fourth time in a row, after the Vanderbilt QB blew out Freeze's Liberty program while at New Mexico State in 2022 before upsetting Auburn while still at New Mexico State in 2023 and taking down the Tigers again last year in his first season with the Commodores. Pavia isn't the only gamer on Clark Lea's team, with NFL talent like Eli Stowers and Miles Capers helping Vandy get a decisive win against interim Auburn head coach D.J. Durkin.
🐺 No. 23 Washington vs. Wisconsin prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (4:30 p.m. ET, Big Ten Network)
- Best bet: Washington -10.5 (-115 via DraftKings)
💰️ Score prediction: Washington 30, Wisconsin 17
Could this be the game that ends Luke Fickell's tenure at Wisconsin? It probably should be if the Badgers lose by double digits at Camp Randall against a Washington team that seems to no-show against quality opponents. Luckily for Jedd Fisch, Wisconsin is not a quality opponent, so Demond Williams Jr., Denzel Boston, and Jonah Coleman should have no trouble going hunting for badgers. The Huskies have beaten their three Big Ten opponents not named Ohio State or Michigan by an average of 13.3 points.
⚔️ Wake Forest vs. No. 14 Virginia prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN)
- Best bet: Virginia -6.5 (-115 via bet365)
💰️ Score prediction: Virginia 27, Wake Forest 20
The ACC is pure chaos, which is why Virginia is atop the conference with an undefeated conference record, despite its lone loss being to a conference opponent, NC State, in a non-conference game. That same NC State team gave Georgia Tech an upset loss last week that put the Cavaliers in College Football Playoff position. Naturally, Tony Elliott's team will probably lose this game somehow to a Wake Forest team that just lost 42-7 to Florida State. But the Demon Deacons have also beaten the SMU team that took down Miami and beat the NC State team that beat Georgia Tech and Virginia, and only lost by one in OT to the Yellow Jackets. I say all that to say, don't trust the ACC.
🐻 Cal vs. No. 15 Louisville prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2)
- Best bet: Cal +20.5 (-112 via FanDuel)
💰️ Score prediction: Louisville 33, Cal 20
Like I said, don't trust the ACC because there was a time people were talking about Cal as a College Football Playoff dark horse after the Golden Bears started the season 3-0 thanks to freshman phenom QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. Since then, they're 2-4. Could they upset Louisville? Maybe, but I think the Cardinals are one of the two teams you can trust in the ACC, even with their OT loss to Virginia earlier this year. Running back Isaac Brown being out is tough for Louisville, but Brian Brohm's team still has so much athleticism with players like Chris Bell and Clev Lubin. It's either going to be Louisville or Georgia Tech in the CFP out of the ACC.
🐘 LSU vs. No. 4 Alabama prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC)
- Best bet: Alabama -10 (-110 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Alabama 30, LSU 17
Maybe the most interesting part about this game this year is the fact that Nick Saban's name is among the favorites by the LSU next coach odds. Could the former Alabama head coach actually walk into the mess at LSU, seemingly caused by the state's governor, Jeff Landry, of all people? Who knows, but at least that can distract the Tigers' fans from what's bound to happen in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night. Alabama's Ty Simpson is playing QB at the highest level in the country right now, and he's surrounded by NFL talent. And LSU's offensive line is set to have a long night against an ascending Crimson Tide front seven.
⬆️ Navy vs. No. 10 Notre Dame prediction
- When: Saturday, Nov. 8 (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock)
- Best bet: Over 55.5 (-113 via Caesars)
💰️ Score prediction: Notre Dame 38, Navy 20
Navy is coming off its first loss of the season, but the Midshipmen could make some noise against a Notre Dame team that can't seem to get out of its own way. Navy has its best QB in years in Blake Horvath and a legitimate NFL talent in slotback Eli Heidenreich. Those two could create some splash plays against the Fighting Irish. But in the end, the talent of Marcus Freeman's team should win out, with CJ Carr emerging as one of the best QBs in the country and Jeremiyah Love being a threat to find the end zone on every carry.
