π° Best anytime touchdown scorer bets this week
π₯ Terrance Carter Jr., TE, Texas Tech (+185) ββββ
In a Big 12 heavyweight bout that's the site of College GameDay, scoring could be hard to come by with how talented both these defenses are - our BYU vs. Texas Tech prediction is taking the Under for a reason. However, the Red Raiders are bound to find the end zone a few times with how much talent this roster has, thanks to billionaire Cody Campbell's funding and GM James Blanchard's scouting.
While transfers on the defense like David Bailey and Romello Height get all the attention, one of Blanchard's best pick-ups has been tight end Terrance Carter Jr. The Louisiana transfer has been rewarded for his impressive run blocking by becoming a featured threat in the offense, ranking top 10 nationally among tight ends in yards per route run (2.2), YAC (222), and contested catches (5).
His ability to make plays in traffic and with the ball in his hands has helped him score a team-leading five receiving touchdowns in eight games. Carter's size and athleticism should be a mismatch against a BYU defense that's given up 24 PPG in Big 12 play. If Carter scores, a $10 bet pays a $18.50 profit.
π₯ E.J. Williams, WR, Indiana (+150) ββββ
Watching Indiana play unranked programs is like watching a Hoosiers' highlight tape; they've scored 111 points in their last two games. And with Curt Cignetti's team heading to Penn State as a 14.5-point favorite, our Indiana vs. Penn State prediction doesn't expect the Nittany Lions to get back on track against the Hoosiers amid a five-game losing streak.
We know Indiana is going to hang points on Penn State, similarly to Ohio State last week - the Buckeyes put 38 on the Nittany Lions with four different players scoring TDs - so the key here is finding the top value at our best college football betting sites. And while E.J. Williams might not have the same name power as some of the Hoosiers' other weapons, he's the best play.
With Elijah Sarratt dealing with a hamstring injury that knocked him out of last week's win against Maryland in the first quarter, Williams should see a larger role this week. Heisman Trophy odds contender Fernando Mendoza has a 117.6 NFL QB rating, targeting his third-leading receiver, and Williams's ball skills should come in handy against Penn State - he has just one drop this season and a 71.6% contested catch win rate.
If Williams scores his fourth touchdown in four games against a Penn State defense that ranks No. 68 in EPA per pass, a $10 bet pays a $15 profit.
π₯ KC Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M (+125) ββββ
Though my college football player props for Week 11 are backing Ahmad Hardy to rumble against Texas A&M in this ranked SEC matchup, I do have the Aggies winning this game on the road against Missouri. That's because Marcel Reed just has too many weapons to utilize for the Tigers to slow Mike Elko's team down for four quarters.
With this expected to be more of a defensive matchup, we're getting mouth-watering value with KC Concepcion to score against Missouri. The NC State transfer has been one of the most explosive threats in the SEC this season, ranking top 10 in the conference in yards per route run (2.58) and forced missed tackles on receptions (8), and offensive coordinator Collin Kelin has periodically involved him in the run game, too.
Plus, Concepcion is among the best punt returners in the country, averaging 20.6 per return with two scores, and Missouri's special teams are some of the worst in the sports (ranked No. 116 by SP+). That's part of the reason his odds to score are as short as -105 (51.22% implied probability), but this price at FanDuel pays a $12.50 profit on a $10 winning bet.
π₯ Jordon Davison, RB, Oregon (+650) βββ
We save the biggest of my favorite college football anytime touchdown scorer predictions for last by taking an Oregon freshman running back who wasn't even a top-150 recruit or expected to be in the Ducks' rotation five months ago. But Jordon Davison has been so good that he's gone from afterthought fifth-string to short-yardage back to tied for Oregon's leader in rushing attempts.
Built like a bowling ball at 236 pounds, Davison has been Dan Lanning's go-to short-yardage back all season, which is why he's the team's leader in touchdowns (10). His role has also increased in a big way in recent weeks. Davison averaged just 4.8 touches per game for 18.2 yards in his first five games with the Ducks. In his last three, the thunder to fellow freshman running back Dierre Hill Jr.'s lightning has averaged 11.3 touches for 92 yards per game.
Davison, who's second on the team behind Hill in forced missed tackles (12) and rushing yards after contact (192), will be needed against an Iowa defense that's more susceptible against the run. The Hawkeyes are No. 60 in EPA per rush on defense vs. No. 9 in EPA per pass.
While backing a freshman to score twice in a ranked matchup is bold, these odds pay a $65 profit on a $10 winning bet for something Davison did in his last game against Wisconsin.
