This is about coaching and roster attrition. While Houston is expected to be at full strength under head coach Willie Fritz, who has the Cougs 8-4 ATS, LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson will be without more than a half dozen impact starters.
LSU is down its six best defensive players, so Houston's offense should be able to score enough to win, with playmakers like Dean Connors and Tanner Koziol.
And with the Tigers' offensive line in shambles, it's going to struggle to protect backup QB Michael Van Buren against a Cougars defense that allows just 21.8 PPG.

LSU's defense has been strong this season, but without its three starting linebackers, Connors is in for a huge day of production as a runner and receiver.
