Early Georgia vs. Tennessee Prediction, Odds & Picks for Week 3: College Football Preview

Two of the best defenses in college football take the field on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC) from Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., and my early Georgia vs. Tennessee prediction is all over the Under for this week's college football picks.
While the Bulldogs being a 4.5-point betting favorite is enticing, I trust these two ferocious SEC defenses far more than either team's quarterbacks in the biggest game of our college football predictions for Week 3.

⬇️ Under 50.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Neither of these teams has been tested yet, with Georgia taking on Marshall and Austin Peay, while Tennessee has played Syracuse and East Tennessee State. So it's hard to gauge if either Gunner Stockton or Joey Aguilar, both new starting QBs for these College Football Playoff odds contenders, is a legitimate threat.
Both have looked good through two weeks, but beating up on FCS programs isn't a strong indicator that their success will continue in SEC play. Instead, I love this Under, with Georgia and Tennessee both ranking top six in SP+ on defense and outside of the top 10 on offense. I'm banking on Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann to get the best of Josh Heupel's veer and shoot, and for Tim Banks to continue quietly orchestrating an elite defense in Knoxville.
With so many future NFL defensive players like CJ Allen, Christen Miller, Joshua Josephs, and Boo Carter taking the field in this game, it could be a bloodbath at Neyland Stadium. If the game hits the Under, there's a 52.38% probability it will, a $10 bet at Caesars pays a $9.09 profit. Last season, these two combined for 48 points.

🔍 Georgia vs. Tennessee odds analysis
Given this is a marquee matchup each season, the odds were available two months ago at some of our best college football betting sites. Georgia opened as a 7.5-point betting favorite then, with the line trickling down to -4.5 at most books. However, bettors are split with 50% of the money on each SEC power. With Tennessee at home, and Aguilar thriving in Heupel's offense, I could see this coming down another point and the Bulldogs being favored by just 3.5 by kickoff.
Although I'm betting the Under, which has seen little movement and has just 43% of the money on it, I would take Georgia to cover this 4.5-point betting spread - I'd only take the Bulldogs up to -5.5 though. As for the game total, I don't think it will move much, but I'd take the Under on any number higher than 48.5.

How do college football odds work?
When betting on college football odds, the point spread shows how many points the favorite needs to win by in order to cash the bet. For example, a favorite of -3 must win by more than 3 points to cover the spread, while an underdog at +3 must win outright or lose by fewer than 3 points to cover the spread.
Moneyline odds represent the payout for picking the outright winner (+200 means a $100 bet wins $200, while -200 means a $200 bet wins $100). Over/Unders let you wager on whether the combined total will be higher or lower than the set number.
