No. 7 BYU is one of four undefeated FBS teams as it enters this huge matchup with Big 12 title game implications against No. 8 Texas Tech, and I'm breaking it down with my BYU vs. Texas Tech prediction.

Oddsmakers don't seem to care that the Cougars are undefeated, as the Red Raiders are the 10-point betting favorite. Kickoff from Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas is set for noon ET on Saturday (ABC).

My college football Week 11 predictions advise laying the points with the home favorites, who should turn in a dominant defensive performance against a BYU offense that true freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier leads.

🏈 BYU vs. Texas Tech preview & score prediction

The Under is 8-1 in BYU’s last nine games against AP top-15 opponents. That has me intrigued to back the Under with a three-star play. But my most confident five-star prediction and expert pick is laying the points with Texas Tech, as the favorite is 7-0 against the spread in each of its last seven home contests.

Red Raiders boast elite balance

Texas Tech is off to its best start to a season (8-1) since 2008, and that's largely because of how dominant it's been on both sides of the ball.

Texas Tech and Indiana are the only two teams in the country ranked in the top five in both scoring offense and points per game allowed. The Red Raiders are also among three teams to rank in the top 10 nationally in scoring offense, scoring defense, total offense, and total defense (Indiana and Oregon are the others).

The Red Raiders’ dominant metrics have been resulting in blowout wins. They're the only team with eight-plus wins by at least 23 points, and Texas Tech ranks second nationally while outscoring opponents by an average of 30.3 points. The only other school with seven wins of 23-plus points is Utah, which Texas Tech thumped 34-10.

Texas Tech also made history as one of four FBS teams over the last 30 years to start a season 6-0, winning each game by 20-plus-points while holding opponents to fewer than 20 points.

I'm placing my $10 wager for Texas Tech to cover at BetMGM, which is alone among the best sports betting sites while offering -10 (others are as high as -10.5) at less than the standard -110 juice with 52.38% implied odds. Through BetMGM’s -105 odds, my wager would net $9.52 in profits if Texas Tech covers.

Score prediction: Texas Tech 34, BYU 17

🆚 BYU vs. Texas Tech matchup to watch

Bear Bachmeier vs. Jacob Rodriguez

Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez is the FBS leader with seven forced fumbles, and he's logged five in the last three games alone. He's the nation's second-highest graded defensive player, per PFF, and Rodriguez is also a significant reason why the Red Raiders are tied for second nationally with 20 forced turnovers.

Bachmeier entered Week 10 ranked seventh in rushing touchdowns (nine) among FBS passers. But Rodriguez and a Texas Tech run defense that leads FBS with 74.6 rushing yards allowed per game should limit him on the ground. Additionally, the Red Raiders are 10th in tackles for a loss and 12th in quarterback sacks per game.

The Under on Bachmeier’s rushing yards is juiced as high as -117 (carrying a 53.93% implied probability). Therefore, the best return is through FanDuel’s -114 odds, which would net $8.77 in profits on a winning $10 wager.

Best prop bet: Bear Bachmeier Under 38.5 rushing yards (-114 via FanDuel)
