Washington is a 9.5-point betting favorite over the Mountain West champions, and my college football predictions are backing the Huskies now, before the line reaches the key number of 10, especially since they appear to be getting good news on roster retention and opt-outs.

As of this writing, Washington has not had any significant opt-out news, and head coach Jedd Fisch is confident he will field a full roster for the LA Bowl. That has me confident in backing the Huskies’ point spread with four stars.
Washington’s running game should prove to be too much
Boise State’s front seven will have to hold up in the trenches if it has any hopes of pulling an upset. The Broncos' run defense will surely be tested after ranking in the bottom five in FBS in broken tackles allowed, PFF tackling grade, and rush explosives allowed.
The strength of the Boise State defense is its pass defense.
The Broncos entered the Mountain West Championship ranked fifth in the country in Passing Success Rate allowed and Pass EPA allowed. But it also avoided facing the two most dangerous passing offenses in the conference - Hawaii and San Jose State - while this will be their toughest test outside of the regular season loss at Notre Dame.
Sharp action appears to be backing the favorites. The spread has risen from an opening number of -8.5 to -9.5 despite 47% of the wagers being placed on Washington. If future NFL players like running back Jonah Coleman and wide receiver Denzel Boston are a full go, this line will likely blow past the key number of -10.
My college football predictions for bowl games this week include a $10 wager through Caesars’ -110 price at 52.38% implied odds that would net $9.09 in profit if Washington covers the spread.

Dylan Riley vs. Washington front seven
Boise State leading rusher Dylan Riley has not been lacking for opportunities of late. He had 21 or more rushing attempts in three of the final four games, which all comprised his three highest attempt totals of the season.
Skewing that data somewhat is the fact that the team was without starting quarterback Maddux Madsen for two of those games, so the Broncos needed to lean on the run more. Even with Madsen back against UNLV in the Mountain West Championship, Riley averaged just 3.6 yards per carry, his fifth game with fewer than 3.7 yards per carry this season.
Riley should face tough sledding against a Huskies defense that entered the regular season finale against Oregon ranked 21st in Rushing Success Rate and 15th in explosiveness allowed.
