My best Alabama vs. Oklahoma anytime touchdown scorer predictions for Friday’s 8 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN) College Football Playoff game at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., focus on John Mateer, Germie Bernard, and Josh Cuevas. Alabama is favored by 1.5.

These two teams are both allowing fewer than 17.5 points per game, and the first time they met, Oklahoma scored just one offensive touchdown despite winning the game. Below, I highlight three plays that provide value as part of my best college football bowl game predictions this week.

John Mateer, QB, Oklahoma (+142) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In the first meeting, Mateer scored Oklahoma’s only offensive touchdown on a 20-yard run. He hasn’t scored in either of his games since, but he still leads Oklahoma with seven rushing touchdowns, and he’s scored in six of his 11 games.

Alabama is giving up just 17.4 points per game, but the Crimson Tide have allowed 14 rushing touchdowns compared to just 11 rushing touchdowns this season.

Not only does Mateer have the most rushing touchdowns for Oklahoma, but he also has the most carries with 130. With all of this in mind, Mateer is my favorite of all my Alabama vs. Oklahoma anytime touchdown scorer predictions.

Germie Bernard, WR, Alabama (+170) ⭐⭐⭐

Bernard leads Alabama with 57 receptions and 762 yards, and he’s second on the team with seven touchdown receptions. He’s also scored two rushing touchdowns.

Oklahoma has allowed just nine passing touchdowns this season, which is the fewest in the SEC. While this is a very tough matchup for Bernard, he did catch seven passes for 71 yards in his first meeting with Alabama. He has at least five catches in four of his last six games, and he has at least three grabs in every game. This volume makes him Alabama’s most likely scorer, even in a tough matchup.

Josh Cuevas, TE, Alabama (+400) ⭐⭐⭐

Cuevas will return to the field for the first time since suffering a foot injury the week after Alabama lost to Oklahoma in mid-November. He’s missed three games, but he returns in a matchup that was very favorable for him the first time around.

Against Oklahoma, he caught six passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. He has scored in two of his last three games, caught 10 passes in his previous two appearances combined, and he enters this contest with at least two receptions in each of his games this year.
