The Georgia Bulldogs enter the 2022 season as the defending national champions, as they claimed their third title in school history and first since 1980. Check out Georgia's futures odds, picks, and preview for the upcoming season.

An SEC team has won the last three national championships, but history is against the Bulldogs repeating, as only one team (Alabama in 2011-12) has defended its title since 2004. Can the Bulldogs buck that trend?

Below, we preview the 2022 college football season for the Georgia Bulldogs with a look at their futures odds and make our top picks (odds via BetMGMDraftKings Sportsbook, and FanDuel Sportsbook).

Georgia Bulldogs 2022 Picks

To win the national championship (+380 via DraftKings)Over 10.5 regular-season wins (-200 via BetMGM)To miss the playoffs (-115 via DraftKings)Stetson Bennett to win the Heisman Trophy (+20000 via FanDuel)https://twitter.com/phillygodfather/status/1545040617008398339?s=20&t=rOTIKZTSs9wRWpnZb25uwA

Bulldogs to win the national championship (+380)

Georgia has played in two of the last five national championship games, so head coach Kirby Smart has it working down in Athens. However, the Bulldogs' success means they have much rebuilding to do, as Georgia set an NFL draft record (since the draft moved to a seven-round format) with 15 players selected from last year's championship squad.

While five of its players from a historically good defense were drafted in the first round, remaining defensive tackle Jalen Carter may be better than all of them, which means running the football against a stout front will be challenging. In addition, Georgia likely has the best tight end group in the country with Brock Bowers and previous LSU transfer Arik Gilbert.

DraftKings offers the best odds of the major sportsbooks for this wager, as FanDuel and BetMGM offer slightly lower +350 odds.

Bulldogs Win Total Pick: Over 10.5 wins (-200)

In one of the most intriguing season openers, Georgia plays essentially a home game against a possible top-15 Oregon team in Atlanta. That game carries even more appeal as the Ducks' new head coach is former Bulldogs defensive coordinator Dan Lanning. In addition, his quarterback is Bo Nix, who Georgia is familiar with from his days at Auburn. However, given that Lanning is instilling a completely new system at Oregon, it is hard to envision the Ducks beating the Bulldogs in their own backyard.

The SEC East may have two more top-25 teams in Kentucky and Tennessee. Still, Georgia gets the Volunteers at home, and the Bulldogs do not have to play talented Alabama, Texas A&M, or Arkansas teams as crossover opponents. It would take two regular-season losses to lose this wager, but 10-2 or worse is hard to envision, even if there is a national championship hangover to contend with.

Will the Bulldogs make the playoffs? No (-115)

While Georgia has the third-best odds to win the national championship, oddsmakers also give it a 50/50 chance to miss the playoffs. The two years that Georgia has played for the national championship (2017-18, 21-22) are the only years it has made the College Football Playoff since its inception in 2014-15.

Given the demand of an SEC schedule, it is much more likely the Bulldogs head into the SEC Championship at 11-1 rather than 12-0. And no two-loss team has ever made the College Football Playoff, so a second loss to the likely preseason No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide would likely send Georgia to a New Year's Six Bowl if they entered the conference championship 11-1.

Top Georgia Player Future: Bennett to win the Heisman Trophy (+20000)

Those intrigued by this wager would benefit from much better value making this bet at FanDuel, as Bennett is +8000 to win the Heisman at BetMGM and +10000 at DraftKings.

Georgia is not typically known as a quarterback-centric football team and it has not had a Heisman winner since Herschel Walker in 1982. However, Bennett has big-game experience and was a solid 17-for-26 passing for 224 yards and two touchdowns in the National Championship against Alabama. Unfortunately, he does not offer much with his legs (259 rushing yards, one touchdown) as other Heisman hopeful quarterbacks will. Still, +20000 odds is insane value for a starting quarterback on a team with the third-best odds to win the championship that could easily run the table in the regular season.
