San Diego general manager A.J. Preller said the injury potentially happened early in the offseason and has since flared back up, with Tatis beginning to increase his baseball activities a few weeks ago.
Even with time missed last season due to a shoulder injury, Tatis still recorded an impressive 99 runs, 42 home runs, 97 RBI, and 25 stolen bases with a .282/.364/.611 slash line. He appeared in his first All-Star Game and finished third in the National League MVP Award voting.
His 42 homers paced the NL.

Versatile defender Jake Cronenworth will probably cover for Tatis at the six while the former is out, and Cronenworth is coming off a solid second season in the majors with 21 home runs and a .266/.340/.460 slash line across 638 plate appearances over 152 games.
Currently, the Tatis injury hasn’t yet had a notable impact on the San Diego World Series futures markets.

After being listed at +350 to win the National League MVP Award at DraftKings Sportsbook on March 1, 2022, Tatis is now +1000 to win the honor.
As other books begin to release their NL MVP Award markets, expect Tatis’ number to be closer to the +1000 currently available at DraftKings than his +350 number before the injury.
