OwnersBox, a relatively new but rapidly expanding Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) operator, has strengthened its relationship with former NFL QB Drew Brees, who has agreed to become its brand ambassador.
Already an investor, Brees will also advance his role by being featured in ads, promotions, and social media initiatives across North America. The company said his engagement would allow him to interact with fans and advertise OwnersBox products across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and PGA competitions.
Brees was eager to play a larger role, citing his belief in the platform and his eagerness to bring it to fans' attention. "It's a platform I truly believe in, and I can't wait to share my passion for OwnersBox with fans everywhere," he added.
OwnersBox CEO Brian Kipp also commented that Brees' reputation and credibility aligned with the company's values and mission, and would play a key role in its growth. The transaction also aligns with OwnersBox's partnership with Kroger and Kroger Play to further its reach through retail outlet advertising and loyalty programs.
In relation to his sponsorship, Brees will call out fans directly on the OwnersBox platform throughout the entire NFL season. Weekly entries from his challenge will go to his charity, and players who score more than his lineup for that week will get chances to win weekly prizes.
Kroger play integrates sports betting and DFS in Ohio
Kroger's collaboration with OwnersBox follows the February launch of its Kroger Play platform. This solution allows customers to sign up with gaming operators through supermarkets and gas stations.
According to the Cincinnati Business Courier, users can access Kroger Play by scanning a QR code or logging into the site, where they can create accounts with partners including ESPN BET, PENN Entertainment's online casinos, and OwnersBox.
The platform offers incentives, such as $50 in DFS contests, when a customer deposits and plays with $10 at OwnersBox. Kroger would not comment on the campaign because it was just launched, but reports indicate that the firm aims to interact more with its customers and diversify its advertising activities.
This was not Kroger's first step into gaming. It was licensed in 2023 by the Ohio Lottery Commission to install 20 sports betting kiosks in sites across Cincinnati and Dayton.
The activity was a sign of Ohio's growing market, producing nearly $9 billion in bets in 2024 and more than $905 million in net revenue across 14 licensed operators. Based in Cincinnati, Kroger is capitalizing on its regional headquarters in a state that continues to be at the center of sports betting expansion.
OwnersBox is available in 38 states plus DC as well as Canada, and their products are offered only where permitted by applicable law.
