Chiefs Trade Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins, Oddsmakers Adjust

Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins Wednesday for a bevy of draft picks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Negotiations on a contract extension between Hill and the Chiefs failed to gain traction despite Kansas City offering a deal to make the speedster one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the league. So, the organization allowed Hill’s agent to seek a potential trade candidate.

Hill signed a $54 million three-year contract in September 2019 and was slated to count $20.685 million against the salary cap for the 2022 campaign. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season under his current contract.

The 28-year-old wide receiver has made the Pro Bowl in each of his six seasons with the Chiefs while earning All-Pro honors three times. Hill finished the 2021 season with 1,239 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, and his 111 receptions were a career-high mark.

Of course, Hill was also a pivotal contributor to Kansas City winning Super Bowl LIV in 2020.
