Reduced Juice Sportsbooks

Looking to get more bang for your betting buck? James Bisson outlines which sportsbooks are the best options when it comes to lower juice.
Reduced Juice Sportsbooks

We at Sportsbook Review consider a host of factors when determining our best sportsbooks rankings – and return on players' investment is near the top of our list. James Bisson breaks down which of the best sports betting sites offer the most competitive NFL odds and more, across a variety of market types.

Top Low Vig Sportsbooks

We've laid out all of the reasons why NFL bettors need to have multiple sportsbooks – and line shopping is one of the biggest. Most people wouldn't make a major purchase without searching for the best possible price – so why treat your NFL bets any different?

The jockeying between the best sports betting apps for your wagering dollars is fierce – and that competition only intensifies once football season kicks off. Offering lines with the lowest juice (or "vig") is a great way for any sportsbook to differentiate itself from the pack – yet, surprisingly, the major sports betting sites tend to feature little variance in pricing on most markets.

That said, there are still edges to be had depending on the sports betting site you choose – and finding those edges could make a significant difference to your bottom line. After all, even the best sportsbook promos run out eventually.

Here's a look at how five marquee sportsbooks measure up to one another in terms of NFL vig.

DraftKings

Standard markets: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Props: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Live betting: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

There isn't anything notable about DraftKings' weekly NFL odds either way; you won't find treasure chests of value here, but you also won't find yourself paying exorbitant juice on the majority of DraftKings' in-season football offerings.

NFL bettors will find the standard 20 cents of juice on most of DraftKings' NFL moneylines and Over/Unders, and while you'd like to see the same standards applied to game, team and player props, DK generally bumps those markets up to 25-30 cents of juice at minimum. Not egregious, but there's room for improvement.

DraftKings is also fair when it comes to its live betting odds, though much of the attention here in 2023 will be paid to DK's microbetting offering. It will be interesting to see how much betting interest these play- or drive-specific markets will generate, and whether they'll be priced more or less fairly than DraftKings' other live offerings.

FanDuel

Standard markets: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Props:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Live betting: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's great to see FanDuel not resting on its considerable laurels.

As the No. 1 sportsbook in North America, FD doesn't necessarily need to provide the best NFL odds in the industry – and yet, it provides enough of an edge over DraftKings in terms of reduced juice on props and live odds to gain that pivotal extra star in our ratings.

Granted, the range of vig on FanDuel's immense number of prop markets is wide – anywhere from 16 to 28 cents on most plays – but depending on which markets you favor, you can actually find plays with lower vig than the much more popular standard markets, which is impressive.

FanDuel's general popularity is reason enough to sign up for this sportsbook – but knowing that you're also getting some of the best prop and live betting prices is a great incentive, too.

BetMGM

Standard markets: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Props: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2
Live betting: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2

The NFL betting market is as competitive as they come – which means heavy scrutiny for sports betting sites that don't quite measure up. And unfortunately for BetMGM, its NFL offering largely falls short of providing players with good value.

If you're looking to make standard moneyline, spread or totals bets, BetMGM is suitable, offering the standard 20 cents of vig on most coin-flip bets. Where the legendary lion becomes a less viable option, however, is on the escalating juice as you move further away from those 50-50 outcomes (for example, BetMGM offers -200/+150 on a market where FanDuel's two-way odds are -200/+160).

This is a consistent issue with BetMGM's props offerings, and extends to its live odds. The site's proprietary tech stack makes the live betting process quick and painless, but regularly higher juice on those plays means less money in players' pockets compared with the competition.

Caesars

Standard markets: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Props: ⭐⭐⭐
Live betting: ⭐⭐⭐

Let's first focus on the positive: Caesars is one of only two major sportsbooks in the U.S. to offer microbetting this NFL season, which should be a major boon to its in-game bottom line.

Unfortunately for NFL bettors, Caesars is not the place to look for value in its props or live betting odds. Offering standard 20-cent lines on spreads and totals is well and good, but with the majority of its team and player props starting at 40 cents of vig, there's simply no logical reason for NFL bettors not to have multiple sportsbooks in addition to Caesars.

This is one of the best NFL betting sites in terms of function and rewards, but if you're looking for reasonable vig, you can do much better than this.

bet365

Standard markets: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Props: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2
Live betting: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

bet365 does a lot of things right – but the way it juices some of its NFL markets is a bit baffling, and prevents it from ranking among the upper echelon of sportsbooks on this list.

I do like that bet365 will level off its juice at certain thresholds. Forty and 50 cents appear to be two of the most popular milestones; you'll see +125/-175, +135/-185 and +150/-200 on markets like alternate two-way totals. But bet365 escalates its vig more quickly than other sportsbooks; going from -110/-110 to -145/+105 is a steep climb on an alt line compared with DK and FD, which routinely offer -135/+105 on the same types of betting plays.

bet365's live betting odds are slightly better when compared to the industry standard, but are still short of the elite. NFL bettors with access to bet365 should add this sportsbook right away, but understand that some of its plays will be less desirable due to its approach to vig.
