Believe these start late tonight, like around 11pm ET or a bit later.
Cibulkova -135 over Mauresmo
Mauresmo enjoyed a little run here during the late summer on hard courts, but is still on the decline. Cibulkova looked prime for a break out after winning in Montreal in July, but has floundered a bit. She may have need a short break after losing in the 3rd round of the US Open. She's beaten Mauresmo on clay & this surface should be even better for the younger Slovak.
Kanepi +160 vs. Chakvetadze
I won't put a ton of stock into the two previous wins on hard court by Kanepi over Anna C - as it was back in 2004. However, Chakvetadze remains an enigma. All the talent, but she keeps losing to people she shouldn't lose too as evidenced by her 1st round US Open exit. That comes on the heels of what looking to be a break thru on hard court for Anna, making the final in New Haven. Kanepi meanwhile can take to heart a win over Anna in a major (French Open) & having 3 matches under her belt on this surface after winning 3 straight in qualifying. She's had some nice results on hard courts. In Sydney to start the year, she made the finals losing to Henin. Went deep in Miami & picked up a couple in wins in Beijing. Anna could show up and strangle her in this match, but at the price - I'd rather take the better odds & expect more inconsistency from Anna in a likely 3 setter or 2 setter with at least one tie break.
