Can't believe no one even cared. Isn't this kind of information crucial for tennis betting?

As for me, I would hope Nadal to win, but I'll certainly reduce my bet size after reading this.

yes but if anything the fever has gone down since this was two days ago. still it does make you wonder if nadal is 100% healthy for today's match.

labrador, I think it was common knowledge he was ill. Commentators kept yapping about it and Nadal discussed it in length in his press conference after the Lopez match. That's one of the main reasons so many people took Cilic with the handicap, in case Nadal was still sick. Obviously we saw what happened there - those who had the +5.5 lost. Just like they would've lost the Gasquet handicap yesterday, as he won a set 6-1 in both matches.

As far as today, no one knows if he's still sick. A fever can last a day and it can last a week. He didn't seem sick to me yesterday or the day before but I guess he could've been hiding it somehow. Some people are saying Djokovic will be tired today, others are hoping Nadal's still unwell. None of us know either one for sure and if anything, they might just cancel each other out.

Here's the press conference in case you missed it. They're one of the first things I look at when I'm considering placing a bet on a match. You get a lot of info there as well as by simply Googling the player and seeing what they've said in the past day or two. I'd never make a bet without doing both beforehand. Best of luck today

          Thanks Wulf and Shari.

I made this post because I didn't find anyone here mentioned his possible illness, or maybe I have missed some threads here.

My point is, don't lay huge chalk on a single match. There are too many factors we know or we don't know. Anything can happen. There will be plenty of future matches for you to bet.

So don't go too big, even it's a very important final match. I actually learned this from Shari, never go big after semi finals as lines are sharper. Sadly in reality though, many bettors (including me sometimes), just do the opposite.

Ah, I'm glad I could help a bit. I'm sure you've already noticed that people who don't normally frequent the tennis forum post their opinions and bets during semis and finals, especially when the match involves 2 big names that even someone who has no clue about tennis would recognise. Semis and finals get people excited - they're often televised and everyone loves the idea of a great match. But this is when books make a lot of money after a week of matches when people are often beating them because their lines are much softer. Even if the big favourite wins, you've got those people who blindly back underdogs, bet the handicap to try to reduce the chalk, set betting, live betting while watching on tv (which kills a lot people), etc... And it'll get much worse during the French Open as it always does during Slams.

And sharing info is always great! I was just suggesting that because this had been out there for a few days, had been highly publicised, his performance against Cilic and Gasquet and with the whole is Nadal sick vs is Djokovic tired being answers we won't know until the match starts, if ever, I wouldn't put a big emphasis on this angle either way when making a decision if I were betting this match. Just my opinion though.
