I don't find it all that unusual that Dolgopolov is finding his game prior to a Grand Slam. Much has been made about the health issues he has had this season ... but there's still some inherent fishy BS with this kid. That being said, he could be a dangerous floater at RG if this week is an indication of where he's at right now. Of course, the 2nd set today is also a reminder why when you bet on Dolgo - you will have plenty of WTF moments while watching.

#2284Roddick, Ferrero pull out of French Open
CBSSports.com wire reports
May 19, 2011 PARIS -- Andy Roddick and former champion Juan Carlos Ferrero have pulled out of the French Open after failing to recover from right shoulder injuries.
Roddick pulled out of the Italian Open doubles final last weekend and this week's Open De Nice to give himself a chance of recovering in time for Roland Garros, which starts on Sunday. Roddick, ranked 11th, has lost his last four singles matches since mid-March.
Ferrero, champion at Roland Garros in 2003, has played only two tournaments this year.
Organizers also said Thursday that Richard Berankis of Lithuania pulled out. The three will be replaced by lucky losers.

#2300I always like putting down my initial thoughts on the draws for Grand Slams.
ATP
Nadal Quarter: Weird that he gets Isner first up, but Isner has been a hot mess, so who cares. There's a lot of interesting names in this draw. Davydenko, Verdasco, Soderling, Kohlschreiber, Baghdatis. Fortunately for Rafa, most of those names are attached to headless bodies.
Monaco-Verdasco 1st round will be a good one I think.
1st round upsets: Dimitrov over Chardy, Gil over Baghdatis or Monaco over Verdasco.
Murray Quarter: Murray got an early decent draw, but a potential 3rd round encounter with Raonic could be interesting. Murray should feasibly get to the QFs out of this draw that lacks a ton of danger and/or clay Slam experience. Bottom half of the draw though could produce the semifinalist. Almagro & Melzer have good draws and may face off in the 4th round.
1st round matches don't possess a lot of great match-ups.
Federer Quarter: Boy oh boy. Roger probably rolled his eyes a little when he saw Feliciano Lopez up first. Not the easiest opponent as the Flo-donis had a pretty solid clay court season and nearly beat Fed. Still, in a Best of 5 - Federer should have better mental stability. Some "names" again as seeds in his portion in Wawrinka, Tsonga & Tipsarevic. Still, I don't see any of them in good enough form to win a Best of 5 vs. Fed on dirt even if Fed isn't top notch himself. Up top, Ferrer looms. There's also some tricky players like Monfils & Stakhovsky up top who could do some damage potentially. I think Monfils got the luck of a good draw off injury depending on which qualifier he plays. Should he make it out of Round 1, he has a fellow countryman up 2nd and then a Llodra or Petzschner maybe. Health is always an issue, but the draw for Monfils is not bad. Ferrer is the class of this bracket and his loss to Dolgopolov this week withstanding, he's been pretty solid this Spring/Summer.
Serra-Andreev will be interesting. Andreev looks lost, but he's got some clay game. Serra will be the home favorite. An all French clash also interesting with two youngsters in Millot & Teixeira. Winner likely sacrificed to Roger. Dodig-Riba also could be real good.
1st round upsets: Wawrinka, Monfils & Llodra are seeds here that could be ripe to lose if the qualifier they draw has some dirt skills. Definitely check these out as Wawrinka has been wonky on dirt this season, Monfils injured again and Llodra generally not a great clay player.
Djokovic Quarter: The interesting name in this draw is Del Potro. Who knows if he'll actually take the court or not with the hip injury. My gut tells me he will try, but will either be forced out due to injury or lose before a potential Djokovic match-up due to ineffectiveness. If DelPo was 100%, Djokovic would have a tough draw. With him not at full strength, Djokovic has far better game than anyone in this draw. Berdych is the seed up top. Youzhny & Garcia-Lopez are also up there. Nothing real that challenges Djokovic if he stays 80% or better on his current game, I think.
Fognini-Istomin promises to be a 1st round roller coaster. Think OVER on games right away. Hewitt-Montanes could be fun simply because of the fight Hewitt normally brings, although the surface is not kind to him. Montanes has not been very good in 2011. Gasquet-Stepanek will be a weird one I think. Seems like it should be competitive, but I have a feeling someone rolls.
1st round upsets: Karlovic over Del Potro [Health dependent] or Kavcic over Gulbis.
--------------------
Overall, my inital thoughts on the men are that Nadal & Djokovic should have few issues getting to the semifinals. Only way I would see one missing is in Nadal's bracket if someone like Verdasco or Soderling finds themselves during these two weeks. Possible, but I think unlikely. Guessing many will pick Ferrer to get out of the Federer draw. Not so sure about that, but would love to see a Ferrer-Federer QF. Expecting the Murray quarter to produce something compelling - be it Murray's resurgence or someone unexpected making the semis.

#2301I do far less in-depth on WTA in pursuit of sanity, but my thoughts ...
WTA
Wozniacki's draw as #1 shouldn't be too hard. Hantuchova & Kuznetsova are in her portion. Hantuchova has been playing well of late, but I don't think will be able to match Woz' game. Kuzy is tough to bet against in Slams, but she's looked ragged this year. Perhaps her split with her coach might invigorate her here or perhaps it just means she's a likely early exit. Stosur is down bottom along with home-standing Bartoli. Goerges also thrown into the mix. I'm a fan of Stosur and she's proven good at RG in recent years. She's the one to watch if Wozniacki doesn't get out of here. Keep an eye on Safarova.
Zvonareva is in the Russian Draw. How does this always happen in a Major? Seems like one portion of the draw is littered with Russians. This is it. Pavlyuchenkova, Kleybanova & Petrova all sprinkled into her draw. Vera has not been particularly great on dirt in 2011, but she might be getting hot at the right time. Bottom portion is Fighting Fran. Pennetta & Jankovic also down here. I like a Jankovic-Schiavone 4th round encounter if it happens. Two great defenders. I'll be surprised if Vera makes it out of this bracket. The French has not been her best. Schiavone will be the fan favorite as defending Champ and I would not bet against another deep run. I think this draw produces an unexpected semifinalist. By far I think the most talented portion of the draw as far as "potential."
Azarenka is one to watch. If she's healthy heading in here, she had some of the best form in the WTA on dirt. She's got a lovely draw if she's 100%. Kanepi & Ivanovic are the other seeds in her portion which is void of much in the way of unseeded danger. Lots of quality on top. Li, Cibulkova & Kvitova. Also keep an eye on unseeded American Sloane Stephens. The teenager is good on this surface and beat the top rated qualifier to get into the main draw. I like Azarenka to make it out of this quarter so long as her health holds up.
Clijsters returns as the #2 seed. She gets a pair of good, easy matches in the opening rounds so that if she is healthy enough, she could find form & confidence quickly. Kirilenko & Petkovic down here as well. Although she was horrible today, Gariggues could be a floater to watch. Sharapova & Radwanksa up top. Sharapova I think has a simple draw to the 4th round if she's got the game she showed in her last tournament. This draw is winnable for her and I won't be surprised to see her in the semis if her serve holds up. Petkovic is boom or bust here for me. Some tough early match-ups, but she's got the game and confidence to go deep.Comment -

#2309Pinnacle's futures are pretty juiced. 5 Dimes has much, much better prices. I figured I'd throw away 10 bucks or so on assorted longshots, and these prices were far better than Pinnacle's prices:
- ATP Tennis French Open : Nicolas Almagro +11000
all players have action
Risking $1.00 To Win $110.00 - ATP Tennis French Open : Tomas Berdych +17000
all players have action
Risking $1.00 To Win $170.00 - ATP Tennis French Open : Jurgen Melzer +27500
all players have action
Risking $1.00 To Win $275.00 - ATP Tennis French Open : Richard Gasquet +32500
all players have action
Risking $2.00 To Win $650.00 - ATP Tennis French Open : Gael Monfils +37500
all players have action
Risking $1.00 To Win $375.00 - ATP Tennis French Open : Thomaz Bellucci +37500
all players have action
Risking $1.00 To Win $375.00 - ATP Tennis French Open : Fernando Verdasco +44000
all players have action
Risking $1.00 To Win $440.00 - ATP Tennis French Open : Stanislas Wawrinka +62500
all players have action
Risking $1.00 To Win $625.00
and there were many others where 5 Dimes had a significantly better price. The odds on the top few were roughly the same, but after that...
Continuing with futures, DSI/Bookmaker has a revolting market. We've seen plenty of cases with high juice from them, but their prices are disgusting. Check this out:
79301 RAFAEL NADAL -125 79302 NOVAK DJOKOVIC EV 79303 ROGER FEDERER +850 79304 ANDY MURRAY +1000 79305 DAVID FERRER +1250 79306 JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO +1150 79307 ROBIN SODERLING +1750 79308 TOMAS BERDYCH +1850
All far worse than 5 Dimes. All you need to know is that with a big field, they have one player at -125 and another at even. Absurd.
Also, I bet +875 at 5 Dimes on the winner not being ranked in the top 4.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual
