Unfortunately for Anderson, I think this is where his run ends. Huge underdog winner of match vs. top 5 players loses like 90% of time nxt match

wowrinka lost last 4 matches against anderson + he isnt playing his best tennis
wowrinka will at least make it relatively competitive for a short duration against fed whereas anderson is likely to get smothered

Price on Stan is extremely high for this contest. Wawrinka has been impressive so far, not because he has played his best tennis but because he has been able to win his matches in straight sets (only lost one set to Young) playing at a "minimum effort level". He's doing just enough to get the job done without spending too much energy. The hardest fatigue to deal with is mental fatigue, this are all super professional competitors with unreal physical preparation and great technology to help in their physical recovery however the mental tiredness is the hardest thing for a player and Wawrinka reaches this match with almost zero mental fatigue. Wawrinka seems to be playing in "bot mode" where he just managed to stay in the set and in tie break or at 4 - 4 (5 - 5) decided to put a little effort that was enough for him to win the sets and matches.
Anderson on the other hand had a huge match against Murray and was so demanding physically and mentally for him to beat a player like Andy in this big stage and this "lower level" players struggle to keep performing at such high level after the match of their life and it is very natural that he drops his intensity on this match.
Can't give much credit for Anderson 4 straight victories, Wawrinka has showed that his main focus are GS and outside those tournaments he can't keep a high level of concentration which is fatal for him. Stan is clearly a higher level player, from the baseline he won't play as passive as Andy and should be able to overplay the South-African with his powerful groundstrokes.

I normally love the fade angle of those who have beaten one of the top players to disappoint the next round which is understandable due to coming off the huge high but damn this matchup of all things lol. I think three set tennis is very different and if I decide to wager on Stan to win and he doesn't ill probably never do it again against Ando.

Anderson is a wild card to me but it should at least be a cracker of a match.

The odds aren't juicy enough for me to take Anderson.
As much as I want him to win, I think he's overpriced today.
Murray was disengaged for most of the match, and he did not
have the pop in his strokes.. he was flat.
One thing about Stan, he will toss up many errors when he's
having an off day but you never see him lack power in strokes.
The times KA beat Stan were during a personal slump for Stan
that he's broken out of.
After more thought, I cannot back KA today.

People kind of forget this is like home field advantage for Kevin Anderson, he lives on the east coast. Most people think home field advantage is about having the crowd. I disagree I think the bigger advantage comes with the time zone. It feels like 4 o clock and its actually 4 o clock. Your rhythm of your body with sleep, digestion and everything is in line, and it just gives you that extra edge.
With that said. Can not fade Stan here. He has looked just fine when he needed to win points. He hasn't had to work as hard as KA this tournament, and the beast still lies within. You are basically betting on whether Stan shows up or not. I hate doing that. No value in my opinion. Maybe live bet.

Leaning Stan. Definitely agree that it depends on Stan showing up, but I have a feeling that he shows today.

OVer is a lock
You only need 4 sets as there will surely be a tiebreaker once or twice with these guys bombing serves at each other

You could've made this argument awhile back but not in week 2.

I have made a lot of money by paying attention to time zones. Whether its' because their body clock is off, or because their misses back home is out clubbing/maybe cheating on them while they are trying to practice in the morning. Point is people are more comfortable in their home time zone, whether its physical, or mental is not relevant, but it is definitely a thing. These guys are not robots. They have family/friends/girlfriends/boyfriends/drama just like everyone else.

I feel like he was the same way last year and was just saving up for Djokovic, then every time he pressed the gas and you thought he was going to put Nishikori away, Nishikori answered and eventually things just didn't go his way.
I expect this to go a deep four at least.

But then you're just speaking to the same 'home field advantage' that everyone else commonly recognizes. There should be no circadian rhythm disruption at this juncture that did not previously exist (morning people vs night owls, etc.).

Anyone heard how they will be airing this? Stan/Anderson moved to different court, Fed/Gas moved up starting time. There will certainly be overlap between the 2 matches.
Will Stan/Anderson be on ESPN and then when the other match starts will they just say "f" that match and air the Fed match. Not watching ESPN now and not seeing anything on twitter.

Fed match will be @ 7 on ESPN2. They'll probably turn off the Stan-Anderson match on ESPN when baseball starts @ 7.

He deliberately wanted to down 2 sets before he does a Donald Young or Fognini comeback.

Just a classic, lower level player who makes the performance of his life and just drops massively his level in the following match. Wawrinka made a solid performance, far from impressive but solid. However Stan keeps with many problems on serve, finishing the match below the 50% first serve in and against Federer in next round that might be fatal for him.
