He is talking about Courier picking clay court and they are down 2-0.. On a side note, anyone think that Murray should not be playing doubles to ensure he is ready to take the 3rd win against Sam? I think so, why get tired against Bryan's when you are up 2-0.. Especially with him still not being nowhere near 100%

They could have played on pubes, once Donald Young was drafted in - that was two losses most likely. It was a calculated gamble to put the Brita on their worst surface. Bottom line is US tennis blows so who cares.

Well I guess the theory was Isner was a live chance against Murray on clay and they'd beat the 2nd British chump anywhere anytime. Didn't quite work out like that with Isner withdrawing and Querrey losing to Ward.

Why not... Isner was on fire on clay in early 2012 and Murray doesn't fancy clay at all

With Murray still trying to round into fitness - a healthy Isner would have had a legit shot on clay. Problem was Isner was no where near 100% ... the bigger problem is the depth for US tennis is shit. The top two singles players (Isner/Querrey) can win against some countries depending on the match-ups, but they will always be in trouble against the top tier teams. After that though ... what is there? Young? Harrison? I'd rather see them start giving the young, young kids chances if they are going to suck any way. Give guys like Bradley Klahn and Steve Johnson who have shown some skill on hard courts a chance. Hell, I'd rather see Sock get his ass handed to him and learn how to play.

It's going to get even uglier really quickly in a few years if none of these youngsters progresses - although the US does have some pre-18 year olds that have some game, but who knows if they will amount to shit.
