    Let the tanking tournament commence
It will be interesting if all the players who are due to play at Barclays make the final 8 in Paris. Which players among the top players will tank to conserve themselves? And will we possibly see two players trying to tank at the same time?

Matt, if the French were so patriotic they wouldn't have given their country to the Germans in WWII.

Too bad Rafa is not a tanker otherwise this would be the perfect spot for him to tank and rest up (creating a good betting opportunity) while the other guys beat each other up.

You've only got a couple guys who realistically might need some rest - Ferrer and Del Potro come to mind. Nadal and Djokovic have barely played this month, so there's no need. Federer will try. Gasquet need not worry about tanking. If he wins, it's likely a match with Rafa where he can be sent home without showing a tank.

Thanks, as always, EP. Of the guys that are left (or will be left, and assuming they are the top guys) do you see anyone with a special motivation to win this thing?

Fed will play Delpo next. It will be a rematch from last week and I think given the situation and last weeks result Fed will take this one and/or Delpo will give it to him. The line should be fairly even for this one but I give the edge to Fed.

It actually might be interesting to watch Berdych. He's obviously got the game to beat most of these guys, but has been down more than up to end the season. If I was always looking for motivation, it's always going to be Rafa. He wants to win everything. Even back at #1, I think he wants to finish the year beating everyone. Normally I would say Djokovic too, but he seems to be a guy who focuses more on next week if you look at his track record in Paris.

If Jerzy pulled off a stunner today, obviously he'd warrant a huge upgrade as someone with big motivation to win as he has nothing else remaining for the season.

After what's happened this year, it would be fitting if Nadal won it all.
