Reeces' Picks for Monday, Oct 28
format: name (ML at time of posting) v name (. . . ) winner: why, confidence of call (1 out of 10)

Julien Benneteau (1.91) v Kei Nishikori (1.83): Nishikori
A close matchup, I am going to give this to Nishikori in 3 sets, Nishikori has played 9 matches on I_HARD this year, and has won 8 of them (88%), his only loss was delivered by Ivan Dodig, who is a big server in good form, Benneteau is neither of those things. Bennetau has won 12-17 matches on I_HARD (70.5%), but he his on home French soil. The lines are pretty close, and for good reason. Nishikori does very poorly in the USA, decently in Europe and best in Asia. If this match were in the US I'd give it to Benneteau.

    Confidence: 4/10
    Bet: No Bet.

Ernests Gulbis (1.6) v Fernando Verdasco (2.3): Gulbis in Straight Sets
On a Pretty resurgent year, and almost a weeks rest from his close 2 sets loss to Isner, Gulbis is 12/16 on I_HARD (75%). Gulbis has positive attributes, but more importantly Verdasco is only 2-6 (33%) on I_Hard, and is coming off of a pretty embarrassing loss to Pryzieszny. He's in Poor form, no reason to suggest he will come out any differently this week.

    Confidence: 7/10
    Bet: $25

A.Seppi (2.25) v P.Kohlschreiber (1.61): A. Seppi In a battle of the Poor forms, there's not much to distinguish. Seppi is 3-8 (37.5%) on IHARD and Kohl is 2-5 (40%), they've both lost their first matches 5 times out of their past 10 tournaments. Just giving Seppi the slight edge.

    Confidence: 2/10
    Bet: Hell no.

    Lukas Rosol (2.55) v J.Chardy (1.5): L.Rosol
Right, well it isn't any easy call, but I see Rosol taking his momentum from Vienna over and taking out J.Chardy. Having watched Chardy played Isner, It's my opinion that Isner really beat himself, he didn't really do much on his own volition, Rosol is 8-15 (53%) on IHARD and Chardy is 2-5 (40%) on IHARD. I think Rosol uses his serve and more matchplay on IHARD to win.

    Confidence: 5/10
    BET: $25

right and you can see by my confidence ratings I basically agree with you. The only value these 4 matches provide is with Rosol, and maybe Gulbis if the line moves a bit.

The guys who you want to bet big on this week are the ones that need to qualify for London because they will be giving all they got to win.

Also, if the surface play quick this year (unlikely given they slowed it down in 2011 and 2012) this tournament is notorious for big upsets and surprise finalists.

My guesses: Djokovic will go out before the semis. He would value the rest before a title. I will be betting against him if his opponents have enough potential.

Nadal has never won Paris so he will be playing his best tennis this week.

Federer won in 2011 and most likely will care enough just to qualify for London then tank his next match. Historically, he has been upset a lot here.

Very interesting stuff, yeah I agree, Paris could be a a bad place for chalk eaters (i think I'm using that term right- people who like to bet on favorites?

Point be told yes, some good value should be ahead of us!
