sbrforum's ad for free $11 at youwager

I'll have a tl;dr version at the bottom of this post.

I just received the most unusual phone call; and it turns out, me clicking on "free $11 at youwager" here on SBRforum was the cause.

Here's the long version, as I'm hoping to include all the pertinent facts: The other day, I clicked on the ad for a freeplay for $11 at youwager. I'd never heard of them and suspected that they were not somewhere that I'd want to deposit $500 without further inspection. But, I thought, "hey, a free $11; what the hell. I'll check them out and maybe find a decent online book!" So, I clicked the link and set up an account. Today, I went to youwager.com and checked out their interface - not as good as 5dimes, but not as bad as some others I've seen. I was a little disappointed to find no $11 in my account; so I clicked on the live chat icon. After a very quick chat with a rep, I had my freeplay money. I asked the rep where I could read the rules regarding rollover, etc. to which she replied, "there is a 5x rollover." I was busy at work; so, I didn't press the issue about getting an actual web address for the rules although I know from experience that there are often rules about parlays, money lines, etc. Anyway, I thought I'd just play it safe and bet the lined sides. And, besides - it was eleven freaking dollars. "Man, that was pretty easy," I thought! I placed two $5 side bets and went on about my day.

Fast forward to about 5:30pm Eastern. I'm at the local watering hole where I've put away 3 Bud Lights when I get a phone call from an 888 prefix. I'm prepared to hang up soon after answering because it's probably that loud ass boat horn and a voice saying, "this is your captain speaking." But, no, it was a person. They asked for Joshua to which I replied, "Nope, wrong number." They hung up and I did the same - whatever.

A few minutes later, I get another call from the same number. I answer; and this time, the guy on the other end says, "John?" I knew it was the same number, but now he's asking for a different name - MY name! Weird. Anyway, I say, "Yes, this is John." He says, this is from . After a few back-and-forth requests about who he was, I finally get out that he's either Jeff or Jesse (or possibly asking for Jesse ) from an online sportsbook called "bet-top" or "bet-tops" (don't know if there is a hyphen in the web address, I just used it for pronunciation emphasis). Anyway, he continues to ask me about my ** deposit. Basically he wants to know why I didn't make my deposit. After a short conversation, I get out of him that he thinks we had a live chat session this morning where he gave me the details to send my ** deposit and he wants to know why I haven't done it yet. I said, almost verbatim, "look, if you want to put some money in an account for me, that's fine; but, I don't know who you are and I've never heard of your website." He says (and this is the most comedic part).... "you don't remember talking to me this morning?" I said, "no?" He says, "you're a moron." and hangs up on me.

I'm all, "Wtf? What was that? Oh no he diiin't." So, I call the number back (888-281-3641). A girl answers and I explain what just happened to her. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She says, "what's your account number?" I explain that I don't even know who I'm calling and that I don't have an account. This goes around and around for a minute until she says, "Well, I can't transfer you to a supervisor without an account number." We talk another minute and she says that they handle customer service for several websites. She names a few of them, when all of a sudden, I recognize one - youwager! Of course, then I'm telling her that I signed up at sbrforum for an $11 freeplay and that I'd be happy to give her that account number if I had it on me at the time. I asked if she could at least look up my cell number. She did so and then dropped the bomb... "Oh, Jeff called you. He must have gotten your account mixed up." So, I'm thinking to myself, "I just got a phone call from a guy I don't know about a live chat I didn't have asking why I didn't make a deposit I never initiated and then he calls me a 'moron' and hangs up on me to boot?" And they want MY business?!!!! Oh yeah, right... Like I'm going to make a deposit to an offshore business that treats their customers like this?

Finally, I just asked the girl if she'd ever heard of sbrforum. She said that she had. So, I told her that I'd be emailing sbrforum and youwager about the nonsense that just happened. Her response was, "perfect!" Of course, I haven't and probably won't. I'd rather just vent here in the public forum.

You know, it wouldn't even be that bad that the guy accidentally called up the wrong person about the wrong account. But, a few things worry me - 1)what if this Jeff guy accidentally calls up some other person and divulges my account information?, and 2)what kind of proper CSR calls a prospective customer a "moron"?

So, who here thinks I'll be making a deposit at youwager in the future? Not this guy.

TL;DR version: Jeff at youwager.com called me thinking I was another account holder. Nonsense ensued. Don't even sign up for the freeplay at youwager.com

Hey, Jeff. If you get some downtime today in between mixing up account numbers and calling your customers "morons", then you may want to check out this thread at sbrforum that's devoted entirely to you!

WendyRox, I would file an SBR complaint about this, and let them speak to YouWager management. Customer Service and account security is an aspect of their rating, and I think that SBR needs to know this.

This is absolutely classic. What a bunch of losers at that book begging for deposits.

horsiehung: Please don't take this post as any type of slam on sbrforum. I have the utmost respect for the work that the people here do. I have read many a thread where a wronged customer of a book has gotten issues resolved only with the help of the good folks here at sbrforum.

My only intent in starting this thread was to humorously point out the lackadaisical approach to customer service and customer security that youwager has. I hope you won't judge sbrforum based upon the actions of a book that pays to advertise on their site. They can't control everything that a book does, afterall.
