Secure logins and passwords are critical for everything done online (obviously). I really hope you work things out. Personally, I literally have a different password and login for everything.
My moneybookers account is hacked and money gone!

#38Have to say this is why I like the moneybookers security keyfob - even if they have my email, password, book username, book password, they don't have that.
Good luck with chasing this down.Comment -

#39That's sad to hear, I feel sorry for you. If Panbet do not cooperate, I think the money is gone. But it's a shame they accepted deposits when the account holder had a different name...
I also suggest you install a virus scanner and get a Moneybookers security token. Even better would be using a dedicated computer just for betting, where you don't install any additional software. This reduces the risk of malware compromising the system.
In the past, I was pretty careless about security as well... but when I saw someone tried to log in to my email account which I use for moneybookers and all bookmakers, I changed my mind very quickly.Comment -

#40Similar thing happened to me in 09.
Gmail acc was hacked. They could then used lost password feature to get into Moneybookers and paypal.
Got back $3K of the $3.5K stolen. The $500 had been deposited and lost at a casino.
Paypal transactions were reversed with no loss.
Poor password security was at fault and i was lucky to only lose $500. But it was the best online security lesson I ever learnt.
I found Moneybookers did all they could and I really don't know what more canbe expected of them in this situation.Comment -

#41very scary.
i once received a message from moneybookers about failed login attempt.
it was from Panama, and only bookie i used there was Legendz. Perhaps some from staff there tried using my password (usa bookies are arhaic in encrypting those).
luckily, they didnt get the entry. i immediately ordered security tokens, feeling stupid that i didnt do it before.
if you use mb for anything more than peanuts, ORDER SECURITY TOKENS NOW!
EDIT: Panbet has some responsibility here. although i assume hacker used genuine documents to register there.Comment -

#42As others have said, I wouldnt even consider using moneybookers without the extra layer of security the keyfob provides. Its a very small investment if your not VIP to safeguard your funds.Comment -

#45They are. It will cost you €15 and you'll have to contact them to order one (send them a message through the help centre on the site).Comment -

#47I am still amazed at the amount of people - even non VIP's who don't have security tokens. For VIP's they are free, for normal account there is a nominal charge. You must get a security token - they are quick and easy to use and to date I have not heard of anyone with a security token being hacked.Comment -

#50its a small device linked to your account generating a unique number for you every time you login, I'm sure you have a similar one with some of your banks. Email or call them vip@skrill.com.Comment -

#53I know of such an instance . People get an email from them (phishing email) or something asking them to read and agree to adjustments in policies and are required to update their info . Thats how they get in . I'm skeptical and think that employees may have been involved because of the way the incident was handled .I know that mb refused to disclose info on the thieves to the victims for some reason and also refused to return stolen funds .Comment -

I like to order the security token right now, but for the life of me..I can't find the 'security centre' tap.
I see 'Send Money', 'Shopping', 'Services', My Account', 'Upload Funds','Withdraw', on top row.
I see 'Summary', 'History', 'Profile', 'View Limit', 'Change Password', 'Email Support', on left column.
where the hell is the 'security centre' tap or link? Feel like a old man, I can seem to find it after I login into my Skrill account.Comment -

#59I lost 7K a couple of years ago, as someone hacked my account and stole money from 5Dimes and DSI. The worst part was how absolutely horrendous the customer service was at both places. DSI contacted me a couple of times, but then just stopped responding, even though I told them I knew I wasn't going to get my money back, but was trying to piece back what had happened (a representative of them here contacted me and then just stopped). 5Dimes was even worse, acting hostile towards me as if I was trying to scam them. Two lessons learned: 1) Different logins at every place. 2) A lot of these books just don't care about their customers at all.Comment -
