Hello all,
I just signed up here with SBR Forum at the suggestion of others due to a problem I am having. I was advised to post a complaint regarding the offshore that I use here at SBR so that others may be made aware of their bad business practices. Unfortunately, the book in this case is Bodog - which I have been a loyal customer of since 2004. I have long used Bodog exclusively as my offshore book, mainly because they appeared to be the largest offshore around, which I falsely believed made them more reputable than others out there. I look forward to continuing to post at SBR in the future, hopefully regarding topics much more pleasant in nature. If my post is in the wrong area of the site, I apologize in advance and ask that it be moved to the appropriate area so that others may be warned accordingly.
While watching the Phillies/SF game on 10/23/2010 I decided to check out what in-play lines Bodog had available. I decided to take a shot at an “in-game” wager on the Giants +150, risking $500 to win $750 (the max allowable bet). The bet was placed, processed and accepted successfully at 10:42 pm. Subsequently, in the 8th inning, Juan Uribe hit a HR breaking the 2-2 tie and ultimately giving the Giants (and myself) the win.
However, at 10:56 I received an email from Bodog stating that my bet had been graded as "no action" and the $500 was refunded to my account (14 minutes after my bet was accepted). According to an ESPN chat transcript (which I know is not exactly the best evidence) Uribe hit the go-ahead HR at 10:55 - one minute before Bodog cancelled my bet!
I have called and spoken with Bodog's customer service representatives, as well as supervisors, and have found the results infuriating. I have been told that THEY mistakenly left the line open too long, and that my bet was cancelled due to this. They never definitively stated that MY bet was late, just that they left the line open too long.
I believe that my bet was placed prior to the bottom half of the 7th inning (I was following a few NCAA football games so I could be off by a half inning, but I am 100% certain that was before the 8th began). I placed it as the players left the field at the end of the half inning, and my bet was successfully accepted by Bodog no longer than 30 seconds after– well before the game returned from commercial break. I have tried, multiple times, to find out how long Bodog leaves their in-game betting lines open, but have consistently been told "I don't know" by each customer service representative to whom I’ve spoken. Therefore, unless the line was open for 30 seconds, I cannot see how my bet was late.
I have also tried exhaustingly to have them explain the circumstances as they know them to be. Unfortunately, my complaint falls on the ears of those who are either incompetent or do not care enough to investigate the matter further. I received a third response from Bodog today, and they still refuse to pay- despite the unanimous support I have received from 2 other forums on the matter. Bodog remains consistently ambiguous in their responses and provides me with no specific information regarding my wager; information which I imagine is available at the push of a button.
Even if the line was mistakenly left open and late bets were accepted, this is no fault of mine and wholly irrelevant to my wager. I believe that they should honor bets placed in accordance to their rules and regulations - which I believe mine to be. Due to their repeated failure to adequately support their decision, I am left to assume that their decision is wholly without justification. Bodog has made it clear that despite my long standing customer relationship with them, they simply do not care about me as a customer. What good is a sports book that doesn’t pay when you win? What exactly is the service that you offer Bodog? None as I see it.
Bodog customers, please beware!
