    Question About Sportsbook Changing The Price Of My Bet?
    Hi folks. Just got a question about a Sportsbook's reaction regarding one of my bets.

    Yesterday I placed a bet on the Yankees at -104 with "listed pitchers". Once I realised that Cliff Lee might be going to the Yankees/elsewhere, I made another bet on the Yankees for "action" at -104.

    My "listed pitchers" bet was voided.

    My "action" bet was graded as a winner but the price was changed to -167. If it was a bad line that is fine. However, I would prefer if they just voided the bet if it was a bad line rather than changing the price because I don't like to play -167 bets.

    My question is, is it common practice for bad lines to be voided or just have the price changed? I never received an email from them regarding the changed price so have not received a reason from them. Just curious.

    This isn't a complaint about a line being good or bad, if it was deemed bad at the time of me placing the bet that's fair enough and I totally accept the sportsbooks decision. I'm just saying that in these situations I think its better if the wager is just voided, win or lose. Obviously I won the bet anyway but I still would have preferred the wager to be voided because I like to be notified of a price change before I accept the bet. If the game has already started/finished, then voiding the bet is the fairest solution in my opinion.

    Anyway just wondering what is the industry standard for these types of situations?

    When you play action instead of listed, your line will automatically be changed if there is a line change.

      Oh right. Sorry, I didn't realise that. Thanks for explaining this to me. I'm relatively new to betting baseball, although I've watched the sport for about 2-3 seasons now. Normally a Soccer/Tennis/NFL/Basketball bettor. I normally only play "listed pitchers" so this was my first time putting down an "action" bet.

      I'll remember this in future. Thanks again.

        Why would you ever bet action? You have no control of what price you're getting if there's a pitching change. Why would you make a bet if you don't know what the odds would be?

          Because I didn't realise that the odds would change for "action" bets as I normally only bet "listed pitchers" so I was new to this type of situation. As I said earlier I am relatively new to betting Baseball, I've been watching it for 2-3 seasons but this is my first season where I now feel comfortable betting on the sport everyday.

          Previously, I simply thought that "action" bets meant that bets would not be voided if a pitching change occurred. Didn't realise it would subsequently alter the odds as well. I thought I knew what an "action" bet was but was obviously wrong so just have to learn from my mistake. I'll just be betting "listed pitchers" in future.
