Will planning for sportsbook funds?

Yes, this is a morbid, uncomfortable question, but what happens to your sportsbook funds when you croak?

I'm not a huge bettor, but I don't want 5 figures to be absorbed by offshores when I bite the dust.

Can I leave it in a will? Setup a deadman's switch with useranmes and passwords for all my outs?

Am I just having a midlife crisis?

Somehow I don't see offshore sportsbooks cooperating with anyone who is not you. I'm certainly not trusting them to do the right thing, at least without a lengthy hassle. My "will" when it comes to offshore sportsbooks is to leave behind detailed instructions for my brother and friend on how exactly to access my online accounts and withdraw the funds. Same plus added contact details of a law firm which is specialized on crypto currencies plus contact details of my offshore lawyer. Updating accounts, passwords and numbers on a monthly basis.

In the UK at least, I know of two cases where books released account balances to the estates executor. One was Bet365 and I think the other was WilliamHill.

And I think legally they would have to in most countries.


If you are holding significant funds in books, it would be quite easy to leave a note with your personal papers for your executor just saying to request balances from this list of bookmakers. Would not need even need account details I don't think.

And then you can easily update/change the note as needed.

You might end up putting them in a bad legal position if someone else has a claim to your assets and knows about your gambling.

We have had quite a few family members or friends of "deceased" people ask for help getting books to release funds. And the books immediately stonewall anyone asking like that as it is too likely to be a scam.

In one case I tried to help with that book got in contact with the players family and were told he was in jail and not dead. And they suspected the person asking was someone he had opened his mouth to in prison. As an example of why they will be suspicious if they realize its not you.
