Is making off-market priced bets with friends on betfair against the rules?
    Hello,
    i have a question,
there are two guys betting against each other on betfair, but they offer each other even odds on games that are big favourites and vice versa, off market lines basically, so they specifically battle against each other.
is such a betting considered against the rules, i couldnt find out and as of yet.

will the players get banned or confiscated?

    thank you for insights

No, you should go ahead with it, that is perfectly fair and legal thing to do.

There is the possibility that these guys are trying to up their % discount by doing this together.

If so, it's a poor strategy as Betfair will still take their % commission from every position settled.

Gamblers gonna gamble, let the reason be.
My concern is that it appears as dumping of funds kind of, so i was worried about if that kind of dynamic is within the rules.

^^^ That is sarcasm in case Alfie confused anyone.

You risk losing your balance trying to do off market private deals on Betfair.

It can look like money transfer or laundering or manipulating their fee/reward system to Betfair.

Betfair has a history of seizing accounts involved in that, for what Optional said.

Exactly which markets in Betfair can you even possibly make way off market bets anyway? Some obscure volleyball match in West Prussia? Do you and your "friend" really have such a differing opinion on this West Prussian match that you need to create your own lines?

Anyway, a bot will almost surely grab any off market price offer that's advantaged to the taker, before your friend has a chance to bet it.

You can easily do it the other way around (say you have a ITF tennis match where the "normal odds" are 1.1 VS 11. If you want to bet on the favourite at 2.0 it won't be grabbed, but your "friend" can grab it if the market isn't formed. It's called funds passing and your balance will likely be confiscated. Make no mistake, they will catch you very quickly.

Thank you for the honest answers.
Otherwise it would have been blind leading blind scenario
