Heritagesports requesting password, is it normal?
    Hi everyone,

Had a bit of a novice question. I've used 5Dimes, Bovada, betonline, bookmaker, but decided to sign up for Heritage recently. I have quite a bit of funds there from winning this week, but when I tried withdrawing, it says rollover requirements not met (despite me not signing up for any sign-up bonuses and wagering 3-4x my initial deposit). I tried contacting their live support and their customer support number to ask what the rollover requirements were, but each time I do, the representative asks for my password.

Is that normal? None of the books I frequented before had a rep asking for my password. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Absolutely not.

You are NEVER to share your PW with anyone, ask them for what purpose they need your PW if you are already logged in?!

They don't want your actual password, they want the security word you chose. It could be your mother's maiden name or something like that.

Give them the damn PW. They already know it anyway.

jjgold, why are you on different account?

Don't give anyone your PW, ever.

How would I talk with their support then? Both the live chat representative and the representative on the phone requested password, not PIN or security question or such.

Heritage always asks for my password on live chat

You can access chat without logging in so it's protecting your account really

You are sure it's the book you are talking to because you contacted them.

                    So you give your password.

Change your password after dealing with them if you want.

Whether it's bad security practice or not, and whether you like it or not, offshore sportsbooks asking for password over chat / phone to verify identity is common practice. I make sure to change my passwords frequently. Books are slowly getting better at this. For example, 5Dimes changed from password to separate security PIN not too long ago.

On every single site or service I have used, every time there is a notice "XXXXX Representative will NEVER ask for your password.".
In this era, all passwords are encrypted and if heritage is using blunt non-encryption storage for keeping passwords, their security practices are shit and they should not be used as any kind of data breach is possible with that kind of shit IT development practices.

Heritage has always asked for the password on chat.

I've always thought it was unusual, but they have always done it and how many accounts have been compromised?

If it was a problem, we would probably see threads about it.

It happens with other books too, yet not many issues arise, if any at all.

It is not good business practice - every single CSR knows your password at every point in time, that is VERY bad and is asking for trouble to happen if there is any kind of data breach (and there will be with such shit security measures).

I hear you all, you are "fine" with that, I am not and never will be.

No one here is arguing it's good practice. It's just a fact of life with offshores, so we have to deal with it. But it's slowly getting better out there, fortunately.

Every book I've ever played at for the past 20 years at some point has asked me for my password. When it was common to call in bets they always confirmed the bet with your password. You do realize they already know your password. They are asking for your security to make sure it's your account. Not a big deal.

You are all delusional, really sorry for saying that but there is million other ways to confirm you are the owner of the account and I will never ever give my PW to any single service provider to "confirm my identity".

I have been playing with multiple books and brokers and not a single one asked me for PW.

Sorry that I am taking this too personal, I just want to raise awareness that PW should NEVER EVER be shared with anyone.

You must have never played offshore then, because almost all of them either do ask, or did ask until recently, and have done for more than a decade in my experience.

i have always been asked. the only one who does not ask right now is wager web but only when i am logged in.

betnow has a pin and bookmaker has me verify my pin too.

Understand that we all know this happens and it has happened. Many of us don't agree with it, and many of us change our passwords immediately following the conversation.

We have been doing this for longer than you have been playing at multiple books.

You are the learning how it works, it is what it is. There are no delusions here.

Like I said, just how many rogue chat employees have there been? How many compromised accounts, in all those years, have been due to an employee in house logging in to someone's account? Or even them passing the info to someone else?

Just what do you expect them to do? Gamble your money? It's not like they can withdraw to themselves.

Yes, it's a bother, it's uncomfortable, and it's really one of the only places it happens.

You can always tell them you prefer to verify yourself through another means, or you can always change your password.

                                        Good Luck Alfie.
