Question regarding Coinbase and IRS

I don't know how gdax works? Are they affiliated with coinbase?

GDAX was Coinbase's trading platform. They renamed it to Coinbase Pro a few years ago.

What am I missing with this? When I click on the "Bitcoin" link in the shopping cart, the only option I see is to pay via BitPay. What would be the advantage of this? Why wouldn't I just keep my funds in BitPay, use it as a debit card, and not be tied down to a single merchant via gift card? Is there another way to pay by bitcoin that I'm not seeing for some reason?

U can just us the mycelium app and it does this stuff there no problem, it supports bit pay stuff.

when I click on Bitcoin to pay at gyft.com, it pops up a window to log into BitPay to pay through that account. How do I pay with mycelium if that’s the behavior? I figured they would give me a QR code or something.

Sounds like you have specified bitpay wallet as the default bitcoin payment application.

Have Mycellium open and try clicking the link.

Or check your settings for default apps.

I'm on desktop, not mobile. Gyft isn't popping up a default app - the Gyft website is popping up another browser window and navigating me to the BitPay website. Then I get stuck in an endless loop because BitPay wants to verify my info even though I log into my verified account. Very annoying.


Edit: Okay, I figured it out. Continue as guest gets you a QR code. Thanks everyone.

So does Coinbase only report to the IRS after 200 transactions with $20K in sells or is it just after you have 200 transactions? Confused
