Betfair account hacked and 480euros stolen. NO ANSWER since 1 week from security dpt
    Hi everybody,

I would like to get your opinion and your help on how to solve my trouble with Betfair (sorry for my poor english):

My account has been hacked last monday and the hacked played casino games and loose 480 euros.
I talked with Betfair support as soon i noticed the trouble (3 hours later) and they said that i would get a call back but nobody contacted me. I never play casino games, and i guess the hacker has a different IP of mine, so the hack shouldn´t be difficult to proove.
Morover i am able to prove that i was at the dentist at this moment.

Since one week, the only news that i get from security departement is: you have to send back one form, but they never enclosed the form and the link into her message is not clickable. I said them to send me back but never get the form and they are soooo slow to answer. And of course no phone number to reach them directly.
I contacted the support (chat, phone, mail, twitter) but the only answer is that the security department is on charge of thoses issues and they can´t do anything to help...

Do you know a way to accelerate things or reach security department?
    Thanks for your help,

    You should't play at betUNFAIR.

They charge up to 7.5% commission.

Worse still if you win a little bit of money you have to pay a premium charge of 20-60%.
They actually take 22.5-62.5% the way it is calculated.

If you got hacked I suggest you change your password and review your security to stop it happening at other sites.

The greatest load of crap I've read in a long while!

      I don't pay anywhere near 7.5% commission.
Do you know how much you're paying where you do bet?

I've been winning at Betfair for well over a decade and don't pay a premium charge.

Your last sentence is the only intelligent one.

Yep I guess that's why if it weren't for Pinnacle and the exchanges such as Betfair I'd not be betting at all anymore. Basically all the others love me so much that they've barred or severely limited me.

So could you please let them all know that I know nothing at all and they should let me bet with them?

          Thanks in advance.

There is no way to speed up the security department and you really want them to look at it properly and hopefully help you anyway.

But honestly, every book hears this allegation and too often it turns out to be an angle shooter who has got drunk or gone on tilt and blown their own account.

The biggest problem you have is that there is zero advantage to any hacker to just blow your money off in the casino. Particularly at Betfair where they could use the betting exchange to transfer money to another account on the exchange and possibly get it out.

It's unlikely that they will help you with this unless they find this 'hacker' has been at it with other accounts too, and those accounts can not be connected to you in any way. Even then they are quite likely to just say your login/password is your own responsibility to protect.

Good luck though. I hope they do help you out.

I would also make sure your device is clean of trojans or password loggers. A free service at malwareremoval.com is better than just about any other option and you can be 100% sure you are clean once they go over the machine for you (online).

Thanks you very much Optional for your answer,

I agree with you Betfair will be considerate this way, but i could proove that i was at the dentist at this moment (credit card ticket) and i never used to play at Casino games. Morover i hope that with the IP they could see that i couldn´t play this game by myself.
So i hope they will refund but i would at least know about the situation and final answer.

I was wondering myself about why did the hacked played Casino games and i think he tried to double the money before to Whitwral...
Things is that is he has my login/passwords of bookmakers, as Betfair make 12 hours to send the money on accouts/ Neteller, he could easily go on a bookmaker with much less time such as Bet365/ Nordicbet. And the only one that was used was Betfair...

That´s why i don´t really know if my account was stolen from my computer or in Betfair DB

You can see a list of IPs used in your Betfair account iirc.

More generally, it's about time bookies stepped up to proper levels of security. Google authenticator, and/or a secondary check for unusual IPs. Yahoo mail has the latter, if I logon away from home it sends an authorisation text to my mobile. Convenient and easy, doesn't get in the way much.

Self-interest should have compelled this years ago - how many people withdraw from bookies above a certain amount just because of security? If it was safer this wouldn't be needed, costing the books less in transaction fees.

The worst one of these sorts of cases I've heard about was a few years ago in the UK a guy who had a spread betting account lost £50k trading commodities, but said that his 5 year old son-in-law had used his laptop to do all of the trades whilst he wasn't there.

And the worst thing of all is, it went to court and he got away with it.

The trouble is, even if you could prove that it wasn't you that squandered the money in the casino and it was a hacker, a gambling operator has absolutely no liability for account hacking etc. For example, pretty much all UK banks have a fraud guarantee where if you've done nothing wrong and not given your login details for your online banking to somebody or whatever, then they would refund any genuine frauds on your bank account. So if this sort of thing had happened on your bank account then your bank would probably refund you if you have not been negligent in any way, but a gambling operator doesn't have any of that sort of liability when it comes to fraud on a betting account. So whether you have been negligent or not with your login details etc, Betfair have no liability whatsoever to give you the money back. You are relying on a goodwill gesture from them here, and to rely on a goodwill gesture from a bookmaker as your only way out is an awful situation to be in.

If the hacker only used money from your Betfair account, then you can be pretty sure they have only got your Betfair details, and none of your other betting accounts, otherwise they would have raided every single other betting account you have if they had the details for that also. But if it is your device that has been compromised, then who knows what other details the hacker has on you, they could have got your card and e-wallet details from your Betfair account, they could have other online login details that aren't bookmaker accounts but other online accounts you have, they could literally have anything, so you shouldn't just be thinking about betting accounts here, you should be forensically going through every single online account you have with any organisation, whether that a be with a bookmaker or otherwise, and you should be changing your passwords and taking all relevant security measures to try and prevent any further damage.

I don't see any possible way to win this one. Even if you could prove you were at another location at the time, it doesn't prove enough. I could have a friend 1000 miles away login and try to double up on my account. If he does, I cash out and that's it. If he loses, I claim it was hacked. So there's still a huge issue even if you can prove your location.
