I deposited money onto Bovada this past week (which I have not done in a very long time). The NFL season had me pumped up and I wanted to put a few hundred dollars onto the site and go from there. My **** deposit for $200 was approved and I saw that Bovada also had a poker software (soon to be closing and being taken over by Ignition). I said what the heck and took my $200 to the poker table to play. I found pretty promptly someone sitting at 2/4 heads up so I jumped in and immediately started winning versus this guy. Without knowing for sure the timeframes or anything, I probably was up 1,000 in less than 30 minutes. The guy appeared drunk just judging from his play and he was cussing me out in the chat box (which I ignored). The player told me something along the lines of “higher stakes or I'm quitting” –he was obviously mad and upset about losing. So I agreed to play him (this time at PLO –Pot Limit Omaha at 5/10). PLO is my favorite game, and my better game honestly, I always play PLO if my local casinos have it running rather than Texas Holdem. As far as playing 5/10, it was a little out of my comfort zone but I had a drink or two myself and as far as I was concerned I was “playing on house money” versus a really tilted player, and if I got unlucky or lost then I was just out the $200 I deposited, but I figured with how frustrated/drunk/ etc. this guy was at the time, if I got lucky and the cards went my way, I couldn’t potentially win a lot of money. At this time, we were playing on 6max tables, and a few people started to join, but I wanted this guy to myself and he also expressed he wanted “HEADS UP only” in the chat box. Nevertheless, some players would not grant the request for us to play heads up and we moved tables a few times to be able to play 1 versus 1. (one time the player who sat down actually played a hand and I took his whole $1,000 buying on his very first hand). Like I said I was running very hot and hitting cards right and left. I kept not only getting huge hands, but my opponents were “trapped” just being in there with 2nd best (hands that one would assume would normally be the winner---just not on this particular day) …..in short, it looked like it was just my day to win. Various theories out there such as “new player luck, aka “BOOMSWITCH” since I had not played poker on there in such a long time. Whatever it was, it was awesome and I was excited to be winning so much. After not a ton of time, I ended up turning $200 into $5,900…. almost all of it from the tilted (and presumably drunk) person, with the exception of the $1000 or so win I got from the player that hopped in while I was playing 1 versus 1 versus the drunk guy at a 6max table. I sent in all my documents, my ID, my credit card authorization form, and then requested a bitcoin payout for the entire amount and went to sleep. I know myself, and the reason I cashed out 100% of the money was simple, I knew if I had access to that kind of money, I would play those high stakes again the next day and probably lose most, if not all of my money back (because I am a recreational poker player, I am in no way a professional or anything). The plan, was after the payout was approved and in my bitcoin account, I would simply deposit a much smaller amount and be on the ultimate freeroll in my mind. Sounds great right?......I woke up to find out that my account had been disabled due to “suspicious activity” and they would be looking into it. I am a mild mannered person, so I gave it several days (they told me 48 hours). It has been 4-5 days now and my account is still disabled (with my contacting them each and every single day about this). Whomever I spoke with at Bovada told me that they had REASON TO BELIEVE I KNEW THE PERSON I WAS PLAYING. I was completely shell-shocked and didn’t know what to make of this. I rarely play poker and anyone I know in the poker community are friends that I play a micro stakes game at home. As of now, the money is still frozen with no word from either Bovada OR Ignition. What motivation would I have to know who I am playing versus and take their money? Maybe I am missing something, but somebody PLEASE help me here. I did my research before depositing on Bovada and heard nothing but good things about their ease of deposit methods and their relatively prompt payouts. $5,900 is a TON of money to me, I am not a high stakes player by nature, I just had a little liquid courage that night myself. I feel like Bovada is trying to cheat me out of this money, and I have been given no answers to why my account is still locked…. after all, I was looking forward to betting football (both college and NFL) this weekend. First and foremost, I am trying to give Bovada the benefit of the doubt here, but so far they have been nothing but extremely vague and not forthcoming with what I can expect, or WHEN I CAN EXPECT to see money that I 100% legitimately earned at their very own poker tables. Somebody please reach out, I have heard this site is great at these sorts of things (after all, I used sportsbookreview.com to lookup if Bovada was a good place to put my money in the first place and it is rated an A or A+)
Please some sort of management contact Bovada on my behalf as I am getting nowhere with them and their so called “customer support” or their so called “risk management team”
Best regards,
Taylor
