There are a handful of fly-by-night books operating. All but one are juiced-up pinnacle clones. The one that isn't already has a history of payout complaints. Blockbet.net closed up shop last month, stiffing clients.

At this time, I would not recommend Bitcoin for sports wagering. At some point that will change.

Poker and casino games are well provided via Bitcoin.

I agree with RickySteve, both the not-yet and some-day part of his comment.

What's intriguing about Bitcoin books, and maybe even more so exchanges, is that they can be set up so that you don't have to make a deposit. You bet the Bitcoins, and then if you lose they keep them and if you win they send the winnings. So you're still exposed for the amount of your bets, but not for a deposit as you are in post-up.

The true killer app of gambling with BC is that this^^^ is not even true. BC possesses the capacity to cheaply and conveniently eliminate all counter-party risk.

Feds shut down transfers between MtGox and Dwolla.

Feds seize money from Dwolla account belonging to top Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox
The Department of Homeland Security has apparently shut down a key mobile payments account associated with Mt. Gox, the largest Bitcoin exchange.Chris Coyne, co-founder of online dating service OKCupid, tweeted out an e-mail he received from Dwolla this afternoon. The e-mail states that neither Coyne, nor presumably any other Dwolla user, will be able to transfer funds to Mt. Gox.
Dwolla confirmed the change to the New York Observer, which first reported the story. Dwolla received a seizure warrant from a federal court.
"The Department of Homeland Security and US District Court for the District of Maryland issued a ‘Seizure Warrant’ for the funds associated with Mutum Sigillum’s Dwolla account (a.k.a. Mt. Gox)," a Dwolla spokesperson told NYO's BetaBeat. "Dwolla has ceased all account activities... for Mutum Sigillum while Dwolla’s holding partner transferred Mutum Sigillum’s balance, per the warrant."
It isn't yet clear why this seizure happened, and Dwolla isn't saying anything beyond confirming the court order. Mt. Gox didn't immediately respond to an inquiry from Ars about the seizure. A user on Bitcoin StackExchange published this short reply received from an inquiry to Mt. Gox about the shut-down: "Thank you for the e-mail. We can see that the Dwolla transactions are not getting processed right now. We will contact Dwolla and post an announcement regarding this. Your patience is appreciated till then."
A DHS spokeswoman declined to comment on the case, "in order not to compromise this ongoing investigation being conducted by ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Baltimore."
Using a payment service like Dwolla is one of the easiest ways for US residents to buy Bitcoins. More popular payments services can't be used to buy on the Mt. Gox exchange—PayPal, for instance, can't be used to perform currency exchanges. Mt. Gox is the largest Bitcoin exchange, handling about 63 percent of all Bitcoin purchases.

since all this happened on 5/14, the price has continued to rise. Not a typical response to a negative action.

They use a programmed algorithm to set a BitCoin real time net worth or value which makes this not a true exchange and open to principles manipulating its value at any time. AIR, AIR, AIR

Bitcoin books are certainly viable. Just be careful after the new ones that are likely scams. btcsportsbet and btcsportsmatch has been around for years.

btcsportsmatch.com is like an exchange, you can bet at vig free (1% fee on winners) with other guys. Better odds than matchbook or betfair when you can get action. Fast/automated deposits and withdrawals with no middle man is the true killer app.
