    The relevence of Line movement?
My understanding is that lines move as a result of supply and demand. For example if everyone is betting on one team the price of that team will drop and the opposing teams price will rise in order to entice bettors to take action on the other side. The only thing a lines movement tells me is where the action is and what direction it is heading. How does knowing this effect the outcome of a game?? Many people talk of using line movement as a valuable tool. I understand watching a line your interested in over a period of time to catch the best price but other than that what is the big fuss about?

Logically speaking, I think the assumption is that if A LOT of money comes in late on a game then people "in the know" are pounding it for a reason, whether they are just sharps with good insight or people with inside info about something.

I have no idea how often this pans out, though.

you are absolutely correct ........... sometimes the movement calls for a fade & sometimes it doesn't ........ it depends on the mood of vegas if they want it rigged or not

I agree with nobull it depends on the event, but its not usually do to an "unfair" chance like an injury usually they take down the lines for that and reset them with new ones.

Line movement is huge for the right reasons.

I've seen a team go from 5.00 to 1.50 in a matter of hours because news came in that the opposing team would field a youth team.

I understand that line movement can indicate sub par lineups and injuries especially when the change is drastic. Is there any other insight beyond this that u would like to share Johon.

                Depends what causes the move.

                    Very true!

The assumption is one of an efficient market. That stated, one tries to find the bookmaker that they believe to be the most "in tune" with the overall market. Say you view Pinny in the NBA market as such, if in the end the market at Pinny has swung in a direction, one then assumes that it is because when all factors are weighed that the most accurate line has been delivered and that is it. BTCL involves calculating the "no-vig" closing line. . .

Vegas has little to do with soccer lines and or line movements
