    Aston Villa - Resurgence?
Is Aston Villa back to normal? I think so...

I believe that Aston Villa have made some good signings so far and will continue to improve their squad. They have the ambitions of a top 10 team and should not be in the relegation zone (they have been playing poorly but SHOULD NOT be in this spot). They should not be fighting for relegation but should be amongst the Europa League contenders. In my opinion, we will see Aston Villa begin to climb up the table and that should begin on the weekend. Their upcoming schedule is decent and they should be getting points from most of these games. I will list out their next 4 games and state my opinion on the outcome.

    1) vs Manchester City - I think that Aston Villa can get some good points from this game and maybe even a full THREE. Man City have been conceding goals very easily in the past few games and looked quite disorganized at some points. I think that Aston Villa will throw everything they have at MNC and can easily get ALL THREE POINTS... FT SCORE - 2-1

    2) @ Wigan - This is a very winnable game... They have a good away record against Wigan and should not have any problems against a team that is bound to relegate sooner or later... FT SCORE - 0-2

    3) vs Blackburn - This is an FA CUP game, but they will not throw it away... It will probably not end up like last year (6-4) but they should still win... FT SCORE - 3-1

    4) @ Manchester United - To many, this game will seem like an easy THREE points for MNU, but I completely disagree. First of all, they have a good record against MNU (last year won away 0-1 and tied at home 1-1); they were the first team to deal a home loss to MNU last year. Then, they already tied Chelsea at Stamford Bridge 3-3, but some would say that they were quite lucky at the end. Nevertheless, they will come out with a fierce attitude in order to get a similar result at Old Trafford - and I think they can... FT SCORE - 1-1

In general, I believe that Aston Villa will regain their momentum from last season with these next few games and will steadily climb up the rankings... AND NOT FIGHT FOR RELEGATION!!!!

Villa deserve to be in the spot they are right now...for the very fact they've been poor this season. Club name/history does not entitle you to 'success'....you still have to earn it. They just really lack the confidence at the moment and it's showing on the pitch...just look at Liverpool. I agree though, they won't be relegated...the teams below them are absolutely dire.

I'm not sure though the improvements (in the standings) will be instant. It takes time so expecting 7 pts in their next 3 league matches might be asking a lot. I think 4pts they would take (and more realistic) considering their away form this year. I really can't see them getting any result at Old Trafford this time around...they're just not the same.

getting a striker was a start.....think they could use a keeper though and Shay Given would be a great signing.

btw...I would hope Villa have greater ambitions than just being a 'top 10 team' in a 20 team league.

            good points...

I think that if they beat MNC, then this will start an upwards trend...

By the time they play in Old Trafford, MNU will be 6 points above 2nd and thus, would not mind losing 2 points from that game...

After Friedel, even David James would be a good signing - Brad is just not for the EPL...

At this point in time, they do not have the ambitions of any team in the Top 8, and it is really hard to see them replace any team in that position... however, I will agree with you on this point...
