Chelsea v. Aston Villa

I think that Chelsea gained some much needed momentum from their win against a formidable Bolton side mid week and will build off that win in a home match against a poor Aston Villa side. Chelsea comes in with a 7-1-1 record at home while Villa is a staggering 1-1-7 on the road.

I like Chelsea (-1.5) against a Villa team that really struggles to play any sort of defense. With the strikers that Chelsea have and the confidence they gained from their win over Bolton I expect them to come out and prove that they are a contender for the title.

I think Chelsea should cover -1½ but will they is another story. I'm gonna wait until they prove they can play well again. Now I didn't see the Bolton match so I'm not sure if that was a case of chances that didn't get through. But until Chelsea shows the Chelsea of old I think this is a no play. Because I sure as hell don't trust Aston Villa.

I agree 100% with you here. After the Arsenal match, I was very worried about Chelsea's form. They looked very flat on that Monday afternoon and I think this past match vs. Bolton was a big turning point for them. They had to get back on track and looked much better at Stamford Bridge.

I would love to play the OVER tomorrow given Chelsea's better form and the road struggles of Aston Villa, but Chelsea has only scored more than 1 goal once since Nov 3. That's an awfully long scoring drought and I'm not sure I want to be the one to chase the goals.

After doing a little more research it looks as though Chelsea will be playing a teenager at central defense along side John Terry. This may lead to some issues in the Chelsea defense. Maybe we're looking at a 2-1 result??? The over seems like a good play.

Chelsea's goal vs Bolton was clearly offsides last week, and Bolton did have many chances to score .. I still think Chelsea are in poor form, although Villa have been bad as well

Just FYI for the match...Branislav Ivanovic is suspended for the game, so Bruma or Ferreira will go. John Obi Mikel is out with a knee injury, but forward Daniel Sturridge is a match fitness test. For Aston, Ashley Young and Emile Heskey will be in the starting line-up after recovering from injuries.

Thanks for the info. I knew about Ivanovic but was unaware that Young and Heskey would be playing. Maybe the over with these two scoring at least one goal on a sub-par central defensive pair.

Chelsea aren't a good form. Bolton deserved a draw against them. Heskey gives a target up front for Gabriel Ab. to play off. Ashley Young might start on the wings. Take the goal and half spread at your peril.
