I played this as well. It has upset written all over it, but I'm hoping the individual battles on the pitch will go in Pompey's favor. Portsmouth is depleted, but the manager said he was going to play some of the senior players to allow redemption after the poor performance against Coventry. Stevenage didn't have a barnburner of a pre-season either, and drew their first fixture in the big leagues. Class--if we can identify any on Pompey --should see them through.

While Pompey's value may look too big to ignore, Stevenage will be up for this match so much more than Pompey. If Pompey's squad is only 15 players big, I imagine the 11 that do play won't burn their energy as they will want to save it for Saturdays league game - a more important competition.

If they werent trying to save energy in their opener then I dont think its going to matter how much gas is in the tank.

You have to remember this team they are playing was in the Blue Square. Even with a bad side, Portsmouth still should be able to out talent them.

I agree SB is really up for this one, and I saw them play a few matches last season - they're a solid team. But I still think we'll see pompey pull a win here, I'm just not convinced enough to go with a money line on it.
