it was at -6.

but i would stay away from buying hooks in basketball. just not worth it in long run. it may save your ass tonight but in the long run its never worth paying such high prices for a single made free throw.

I agree 100%. If the play is team x -6 obviously they would need to win by 7 for the play to win. So if a gambler gets the line at -6.5 it wouldn't matter. No need to buy a point in IMO. Just my 2 cents worth.

Think the benefit in buying a .5 down when betting on the favorite is in case they win by exactly 6 so you at least get a push instead of a loss-that is why it matters.

Exactly. I almost never play a line that isn't at a whole number... I will almost always either buy up or buy down. I understand that in the long run it adds up, and it isn't worth it..blah blah blah but mainly I only care about winning that one play... I would rather push than lose by a hook, if it came down to it. A win is a win...even if it isn't as much...
