Got to figure thre is some psychobabble reason that gets published to employers as to why that question is asked. Not to denigrate the company; I respect the company whether they hire me or not.

Could be the random one thrown in to break your train of thought for the next important question...get you rattled as much as a harmless office interview can induce stress anyway.

But, colors do play alot into people's personality but I think it's more of a trend/consistency and not just one in an answer....think of guys who wear pastels vs a goth kid wearing all black or something along those lines.

It was a job with an environmental consulting firm. Frankly, I just said green because I believe it was my favorite color as a child. Now that I think about it, maybe "green" was like an over the top obvious choice for such a job, if you really thought about it, which I didn't.

A lot of times when there is a BS question like that, your answer does still matter. They don't care what the color is....they just want you to be decisive and not be on the fence. They want to hire someone who can answer a question definitively without being undecided.

It's just a question to see how you think. We used to ask people how many windows there are in the chicago loop. No right answer but lets us see how you process random questions (I work for consulting firm also). Other poster was right too, just gets you "off script" to see how you handle answers after that question.
