    New car help
My wife and I have been driving an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee (80k miles) for the past 4 years. We got it, almost free, from my parents. We've had LOTS of problems with it. We've spent almost $1k/year on repairs since we've had it. It now has a new problem, and the repair bill will be approx $2k.

My wife is set on a Honda CR-V. We have an Accord and have had ONE $1k issue in the past 8 years. We hear nothing but good things about Hondas. We can buy a 2010 with 35k miles for $19k. (We could pay $9k cash).

My parents want to sell us thier '08 Jeep Liberty for $10k. It is worth $15-$16k. I am leaning towards buying the Jeep, because it is the best option financially. My wife hates the thought of buying another Jeep. She is worried that if we buy it, we will start encountering problems. But, with taxes included, it will save us $9k.

Please help!! What should we do?

how many miles on the liberty pal

shit ride but it sounds like you could stand to save some...you wont spend 10 grand in repairs to make up the difference...you can book that

id never pay that much for a car over 20k miles let alone 35k

very simple. just sell the liberty for $15-$16K and then give your folks the $10K they want for it.

then take that extra $5-$6K of profit to invest towards the honda.

Not sure what kind of money you guys bringing in? I would put the 2k into the Jeep and look to get maybe two years out of it, in the meantime bank more money 'cause you said you can go 9k but I guess finance the rest?

Keep in mind you are financing a depreciating asset.

No one is paying $15k for a 4 year old Jeep liberty.

Your parents should give it to you, because they don't want it.

Jeep liberty is a womans car...If your wife is driving it, then all is well...How's the gas mileage on the 08? My brothers wife had one and she was getting about 16 mpg...just horrible.

If you don't need the bigger car, just get a honda. Much better gas mileage and will run good.

Can't believe you're having so much problems with the jeep though. I have one, wife has one, her father has 2, my brothers wife had 1...None of us have every had a single problem. Her dad has a 96 with 180K and an 06 with 100k. Both of ours are new, so I wouldn't expect a problem, but his both have alot of mileage and hasn't had any problems.
