I think you just have to create a username(please use your SBR name) and you might have to give them your email. You can probably even use a fake one if you want to. Refer to post #21 on how to sign up for the tourney after you create a username.

That's difficult to say because I haven't played in a tournament in a very long time. The first round will take the longest... however... more than likely we will know who on SBR is going to win the 500 points before the 1st round is even over. Unless of course... by some miracle 2 people from SBR(not counting me) win their division. The good news is... once the board is full the game is over so... there is a limit to how long a game can last. Unlike a game like Chess where a game could have over 100 moves. A full game of Hexversi is 41 moves each... assuming there are no passes. But regardless, it's still 82 total moves.

I’ll give it a shot. I’m awful at games though. Chess, checkers, Stratego, you name it, and I suck at it. I may possibly be decent at Connect 4, or some simple shit.

Sounds good, refer to post #21 on how to sign up. If you've ever played Othello... Hexversi is the same thing but the board is shaped like a hexagon. It's one of the easiest games to learn there ever was.

You can practice Othello against 3 different computer levels here: https://www.mathsisfun.com/games/reversi.html

The tournament has started! I'm going to have my division/bracket winner predictions shortly. Predicting these are going to be a lot harder than I expected them to be. The groupings are random but... they couldn't have done a worse job if they tried. Some divisions have ZERO good players and others have AT LEAST 2 great players. This is good news for a couple of you SBR guys as you have pretty easy divisions.

Once I make my division winner predictions if you want to have a chance at winning 50 points in each division you can predict a winner as well... but it can't be the same pick as mine. In order for you to win the 50 points in a particular division my pick must be eliminated from the tournament and your pick must advance. I will also make a prediction for Tournament Champion. Again, you can't pick the same pick as me. But if you pick the tournament champion correctly... you will win 250 points. For the the division winners you can pick the same as other SBR members if you wish... but for the overall Champion... once a pick is taken it can't be chosen again. All of these picks must be made BEFORE Friday the 13th. ANY edits will be DQ'd

Also, now that the tournament has started... you must make your moves daily to make sure that you don't timeout. If you timeout you will be DQ'd. Some of you have not made your moves yet. If you have any questions let me know.

My predictions for the division winners:

    Ryan
    2016 Harley Davidson
    Jon
    dmoresco
    The Chair Man
    maitreg
    skydvr68
    Eddie
    sht10
    [FGY]TPeti
    Andy
    Algis
    Holden2341
    aragon

    Champion
    Holden2341

To see everyone playing in the tournament, click on Rnd 1 on your main page. From there you click on 1-10 or 11-14. They are in blue. Once on those pages you can click on a persons name to see their stats. Some players hide their stats, but you can still see how many tournaments they've won. Some of these players are mostly Reversi players so... if they've won any type of Reversi tournament it usually means they are pretty good at all of it's variations including Hexversi.

Yes, 2 of the 3 are very beatable even for newbie. I won't tell you which 2. But I think you could win anywhere from 1 to 4 games in your bracket. If you can you beat the other guy even 1 game I will be very impressed.

Yeah man... you've got the hardest bracket of the 4 people that signed up from SBR. The good news is... 2 of your players are notorious for timing out. I tell you what... for every game you beat either Ryan or Marinella I will throw 100 points your way. However... if they timeout... it doesn't count. A timeout win will count towards winning the 500... but.. in order for me to throw you the extra 100 you have to actually beat them. Marinella is very good at regular Reversi but she's very inexperienced at Hexversi. I'm the only person she's ever played in Hexversi to my knowledge. And she's never beat me... but she's came close a few times.

7 players in the tourney have beat me before. Some multiple times. And a few of the others have come close. And there are quite a few that I've never even played.

Every time a move is made the 28 hour clock starts. If you fail to move in time... you lose. The good news is... if your opponent doesn't move in time it will count as a win for you. The 4 players from SBR that signed up are:

    cincinnatikid513
    blankoblanco
    JediMindPicks
    DanielEspinosa

If there are others... I am unaware of it.

If you click on Regular, Tournament, or Ladder you can see what games they have specifically won or lost at. Sometimes these records are deceiving because people don't move in time. There are some really good players with crappy records because of this.

After a few moves... the rules should make sense to you at least. Because of the abstract and paradoxical nature of the game... some people never get better... ever. Many people think they are winning when they are actually losing. You and Daniel have pretty easy brackets... I'd be surprised if you guys don't win at least 1 game each.

When I first started playing Reversi I thought the same thing. But the truth is... every move is fairly important. The first few are definitely the least important for sure... but I can sometimes tell I am going to crush someone even after the first 3 or 4 moves. My biggest strength is my endgame and my biggest weakness are my openings. Most of my losses are because people outplayed me early and I was never able to recover.

If you look at this link: https://www.sportsbookreview.com/for...core-game.html

I give away some good strategy tips. Specifically in post #26. I would be surprised if 2 of your opponents were aware of this. This should be a HUGE advantage for you.

The 2nd from the edge aren't necessarily dangerous. Its the ones touching the corners that AREN'T on the wall that are dangerous. Whomever has more options(legal places they can move) is almost always winning the game regardless of what the score says at the time. Getting a corner is HUGE.

Check out Toptals stats. He plays ALL the Reversi games very well. Look at how many tournaments he's won... it's insane. His stats are some of the most impressive stats I've ever seen anywhere. And his sample sizes are incredibly large. And... many of his losses were actually timeouts.

Perhaps that was some sort of karma for drawing such a tough bracket. That one win might be enough to win the 500 points. We know one thing for sure now... there WILL be a winner.

If Jedi and CinciKid can get their division winner predictions in before tomorrow... I bet they'll pick you to win that division. It might just be a good pick... it will depend if there are anymore timeouts. If you win 5 games you automatically advance to the next round even if there is a tie. There could also be a 3 way tie for first if you all win 4 games.
