What Is Too Much For A Regular Car Wash?

Been going to this one guy's car wash in the Detroit area for like 10 years. He's sort of out of my way now when I'm driving... but I try to give him business when I can. I have one of these Club Cards... sort of acts like a Gift Certificate... like a deb card.

Anyways... I always have credit on it... haven't seen him in awhile. Just went to grab a car wash today for the first time in about 6 months. Guy's cheapest car wash was $8.00

Now mind you... 6 months ago... it was $6.00. His car wash was so good... you didn't even need to add a wheel package or anything... Rims were super clean just on the regular.

Well... just ran the car through today... Tires/Rims were all sh#$ looking. It's like the water didn't even hit the tire area.

$8.00 for a regular wash (cheapest wash) is highway robbery. I won't be going back.

Good post. Yes, he does have an unlimited for a month. It's $24.99. Wash it as many times as you want. He'll even let you come twice a day if you're a good customer. But... it's totally out of my way. I also like to detail my vehicles by hand ever so often. I like that showcase finish on the tires.

Sometimes these car washes use too much tire black on the wheel package... and the tire black sprays everywhere on the sides of your vehicle. Bitch of a time getting it off.

I should of just stuck to the car wash next to home... Buy in bulk and each car wash is only $3.00. I should of just went there.

This is the thing... it's not a get out of your car.... car wash. You stay in your car... they don't even do the interior. This guy has to be the most expensive... (stay in your car) car wash around.

I've known this guy for awhile... he loves to go to Motor City Casino etc. He might even be on here at SBR Hey guy... if you're on here... lower the price of your car wash. $8.00 is too high.

It's weird the way they think anything there is expensive eh!!

We have water restrictions which made car washes more popular and expensive but cheapest hand car wash you will find here is about $30 and a proper job on a large car is $50

Auto-machine wash things are $12 minimum.

Everything is relative, mate. I literally, just came back from the chest doctor. We pay $ 100 a week ins. for a family of three. Co-payment alone was 45 bucks. The bill from the lab's coming in the mail later. Always it is a portion not picked up by the effing insurance. And don't get me started on the dental side of things. But I've got to give you this : At least compared to Europe ( never been down under) the necessities are way cheaper over here in the States. Funny how our politicians consider health care a luxury.

Health care does seem like a burden there I have to admit. And high end luxuries and the finer things can be ultra expensive, as there is a far larger number of genuinely rich people to buy those things than a lot of other countries I think. But in general, gas, food, housing and the basics are so damn cheap it's mind blowing for an Aussie at first.

$6 in AZ gets you a good drive thru wash, have to get washes more frequently with the dust.

Fukk paying extra for the undercarriage shit and tire spray. Just grab a can of Armor All tire foam for $4 and spray your own tires.

$16 here for the wash, dashboard cleaning, inside vacuuming, armor all tires and rims. They do a pretty good job considering the employees look like they are from some prison work program.

No free popcorn though, like Bidays swanky-ass carwash.

Funny about this post. Today I just signed up for monthy unlimited @ a scrub-a-dub ( all soft cloth, but not touchless)
basic wash and free vac for $15/month. Going to use it 3x a week as it is very convenient.
    Figure $2 bucks a wash, $1-2 tip.
1x a month, I spend a couple hours detailing her myself. I actually enjoy it.

This is the second part of this....

Now... this guy with the $8.00 regular wash has these "Hot Hurricane Dryers" Basically it's like a Gas Flame.... 3 Chambers... and it blows this mega hot air onto your car. Approx 3 million BTU heater. The guy who owns the car wash claims he created it. (Trying to find a good photo on the internet... but I can't find one.) It actually works pretty damn good in the Winter time here in Michigan. Once the temps reach around 70+ degrees outside... he turns 2 of the gas chambers off. So... just 1 hurricane dryer is working. Now... you're saying... what's the point to this? No one dries your car. If you want to tip the dudes who pre soak/spray your car... you can.... but it's not necessary. So since your car is being "hurricane dried" and no one is "towel drying" why tip? Exactly. (Yes, I have bought the entire crew lunch one day) $30.00 tip... I was feeling generous. But, that sh#$ can add up just like Ganador mentioned.

There's this one car wash near my home that's around $4.00 a wash... but there's always 2 dudes who hand dry your car afterwards. Honestly... I hate it. I'll flip em $2.00 tip... so... now your wash is $6.00. Over budget for me. I'd rather hand dry my own car after the wash. I do a better job than them anyways.

So yeah... a lot of thought goes into where to go for your car wash.
