First secured Venezuela's oil - those deposits are the biggest on earth - and now ziplocked a US asset, China can go kick rocks.

Second, expanding domestic refining capacity (not to mention domestic and Canadian extraction)

THEN he really starts the (richly deserved) shit. I don't know about nukes but I did know that Iran was behind the Beirut suicide bombing that killed 241 US Marines and countless other international terror acts since the 1980s. Apparently Trump has been talking about this since the 80s, too - I've seen a clip or two but honestly I think its more incidental. This war is about $$$.

And that $2 mil toll at the straits? Double thumbs up. Spurs domestic markets, hurts Iran's neighbors not the US. The pressure to throttle that back won't come from the White House. Listening to energy analysts breaking it down now, they see a lot reasons to not get that used to $90 oil, btw, so there's that.

But this "war" effectively ended on Day 1. Iran's entire leadership and plan B leadership and probably plan C & D leadership deleted right there. Every day since (and continually) is risk and indigestion for the US - but strategically what Trump might be achieving is just nuts.

US is exporting domestically produced oil and importing Middle East oil. Reason is the refining plants for oil in the US can only produce gasoline from light crude oil. This is why when there is turmoil in the Middle East we have to pay $4-$5 gas at the pump.

No one sent anyone cash. The cash you are referring were Iran's frozen money in US banks (when they were doing business in the US prior to 1979, such as purchasing F-14s from the US defense industry). The US after the nuclear deal was signed as part of the agreement transfered the US frozen funds to a Qatar bank. As of today Iran has not acessed the money the US send to Qatar (which was their money to begin with).

My only concern is if Iran doesn't change like Germany did after WW1:

Maybe you should be concerned with if Iran changes like Germany after WWII when they became peaceful after not being attacked by every other country in the world except Japan and Italy. Peace is better than war.
