Best result in terms of covid infections? Ok… so far, maybe. But since the vaccines don’t stop it from spreading, it’s gonna spread there when you open back up and you probably get shut back down again.
If I am correct about this, then AUS has literally had the worse results. Because you have been locked down the most and it will likely be the longest unless they reverse course and say “fuk it”, which I doubt will happen based on the draconian measures that have been put in place.Comment -

#2069Back to normal? Impossible when there are so many idiots here. We have 40 percent of the country who thinks being educated is stupid and we should listen to a real estate con man and online doctors with no medical expertise. We are where we are because of our people…. not Fauci, not big pharma, not any of that.Comment -

Sure people will start dieing more after December 1st, which they estimated to be about 800 people per year in my state. About the same as the seasonal flu.
But now there have been two treatments approved and ready to go as well, I'd guess we go way under that estimate.
I'm not just being a dick to say rah rah rah for Australia. The vast majority of people think like me. Sure everyone is sick of restrictions, but they can't be too draconian because the govt enjoys widespread support for how they handled it..Comment -

#2075Best in terms of infection rate, death rate, employment, economy and public satisfaction I would say.

It didn’t look like the govt “enjoyed” widespread support in the videos of of giant protests and police beating people up and shooting rubber bullets at people who were running away.
As far as the economy… https://tradingeconomics.com/australia/gdp
And here is the US: https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/gdp
I am seriously shocked at your responses, Opti. What the hell do I know.
But hey, I really hope they don’t move the goal posts after Dec 1Comment -

#20809 billion people have now gotten the shot world wide and our country leads the world with unvax imbeciles hanging onto conspiracy theories because they know better LMFAO. Most conspiracy theories coming from con men who have gotten the vax but still spreading the nonsense because they know their client base is full of simpletons.
9 billion. Lmao.
6.48 billion people have been vaccinated. Only 2.75 billion have been fully vaccinated.Comment -

The scare campaign about what Australia has done is just dumb. As if the USA is going to do anything just because we did anyway.
The left controls the media in most countries and they try to control what people think.
Andrew Bogut's post about what has been happening to athletes in Australia was a warning, if prominent people speak up against many of the absurd actions the government has taken they risk losing their job and salary.
The data is clear - unless you are in a vulnerable category their is no reason to shelter in place. Not a single athlete died of covid in the US and we've been playing live sports for almost 2 years since the pandemic now.
Once you deploy the military domestically, which is what Australia did, civil liberties are gone. The military is their to execute orders, they aren't their to make sure due process rights are upheld.
What we learned in Australia and unfortunately many countries and in the US states, is that many people take their rights for granted.
Australia made a clear decision to get rid of civil liberties and domestic freedoms when they deployed the military domestically - that would never happen in the US in the same situation.Comment -

#2096Again, the death rate in countries and states that did lockdowns is not different that the states and countries that stayed open as long as nursing homes and elderly facilities were protected.
The only reason Sweden death toll was high was because nursing homes weren't protected. The death rate in California and Florida is the same even though California was shutdown most of the time and Florida remained open. The death rate in Texas was low too. The reason is both states protected nursing home facilities well states like New York and New Jersey did not.Comment -

#2099Australians have been brainwashed into thinking what the Australian government did was necessary - it wasn't. Deploying the military in the street to arrest people for leaving their block is absurd.
The left controls the media in most countries and they try to control what people think.

#2100The only reason most people support these totally unnecessary shutdowns is because the left controls the media in most countries and they bring on the dumbest and most biased experts to repeated their dumb talking points all day.
There have actually been more covid deaths under Biden this year then their were last year under Trump - but again, most in the US don't know this because they watch CNN and MSNBC all day.Comment
