I will have to disagree. Comparing the tough guys from the past who had virtually no rights as players and no money in their wallet, to todays professional players who actually have lifetime or even generational money is fruitless.

Gotta disagree with you here Donk. It's easy to say those old-school players were tougher than the current guys, but they didn't really have any other options than to play through massive pain, year after year. Alot of those guys would be getting jobs in the off-season, selling cars or something. If they had the option, I've no doubt that many of them would have said "Enough is enough" somewhere along the line. Remember--one of the toughest guys who ever played, Jack Lambert, had to retire early--due to turf toe. Those old dudes might seem tougher, but it's only because they didn't have any choice.
