The ring of Pontius Pilate discovered by Jewish archaeologists

The ring was first found among hundreds of other artifacts in 1968–1969 excavations directed by archaeologist Gideon Foerster, at a section of Herod’s burial tomb and palace at Herodium that was used during the First Jewish Revolt (66–73 CE). Recently, current dig director Roi Porat asked that the engraved copper sealing ring be given a thorough laboratory cleaning and scholarly examination.

The New York Times article in the original post did say they found Pilate's name on the ring, but then goes on to state, "The report says it is unlikely that the ring belonged to Pilate, in part because such simple rings usually belonged to soldiers and lesser officials, not to someone as wealthy and powerful as a prefect." I guess we'll never really know.

The same types of rings would of been worn by people below him. Chances are it won't be his. This is still a VERY important archeological discovery though and worth the excitement.

No, wisecracker. Planet X is a hoax. This ring is not a hoax and it is a copper sealing ring that was used in official
stamping of documents. It was found among King Herod's ruins. There was also a Pilate Stone found decades ago
bearing his inscription, which I'm sure you never heard of.
