A man posed as a nurse at UPMC Presbyterian and responded to patient emergencies in the hospital, according to hospital police.
Kyle M. Jones address unknown, was charged Tuesday with felony trespassing, impersonating a private employee, pretending to hold a professional license and disorderly conduct.
Several members of the hospital’s “Rapid Response Team,” who respond to medical emergencies throughout the hospital, became suspicious after they noticed a man they did not know responding to emergencies with the team, according to a criminal complaint.
The staff alerted UPMC police on Tuesday and they confronted the man, later identified as Mr. Jones, in the hospital’s cafeteria. He was wearing light blue scrubs — the color registered nurses are required to wear at UPMC. Mr. Jones told officers he worked for a company called, “Visiting Angels,” but had no valid identification or employee badge.
Officers later determined Mr. Jones is neither a registered nurse nor an employee of UPMC.
