Russia is not about to start a conflict with the US. They know better and could only win a local unassisted battle. Everything else is a loss for them in a battle with the US.

The US is more likely to respond via proxies because there is no intent to have conflict with Russia.

In the end, the US can do whatever they want, as they have already, and Russia will not respond, as they have already.

The US has already attacked Russian elements and killed combatants after they tested the US boundaries, Russia did not respond because like I said, they know better.
