Here is just ONE reason why I like this question. I ask the question "Would you let a gay black man cut your hair?" in 2018 and so far the majority of the people are saying Yes. This is good news, it illustrates progress. If I asked this exact same question just 50 or 60 years ago I am 99% certain that the majority of people would have said No. Martin Luther King Jr. said ""I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

I judge my haircuts by the quality of my haircuts. The race or the sexual preference of the person cutting my hair is completely irrelevant to me. Why would it be relevant? Yet, 50 years ago or so it WAS relevant for most people. That's not to say that a gay black man can't give a bad haircut... because he can! But he can also give a great haircut. We may not be living in a society where people are entirely judged by the content of their character but I feel that we are getting closer and someday I believe that we will get there.

You guys crack me up I personally could care less if the dude was gay, black or purple. I have had some good hair cuts from obviously gay barbers. Just my opinion. There's a saying, "Don't talk about religion or politics in bars". Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

Just in case you still don't get it... I'll ask you a question.. If Martin Luther King Jr. asked this exact same question that I asked but he asked it in 1968(before his assassination) would you consider it a "clown question" then? If not... when did it become a "clown question" in your mind?

No. Let someone who is at the highest risk for having AIDS in the highest risk area of the US (I am currently in the South) work with scissors on me? Yeah, that would be a no.

Also, really no telling where his hands have been recently and if he's washed them, why he has the breath he does, etc. I would also not walk up and pet a stray dog either.

And my personal belief is Marco30 is correct. And yet roughly 29% so far are voting Hell No. This is something to think about.

I just disagree with you're premise, that being ok with it means you are being progressive

I have had black women cut my hair, and it really didn't matter to me other than worrying whether they are more used to cutting black hair so they might not be good at cutting non ethnic hair. When you add gay into it then you're talking behaviors. I wouldn't want a heroin addict cutting my hair or preparing my food either. Yes I know it probably happens without me knowing about it, but if I know about it I will go elsewhere.

I also don't particularly like effeminate behavior from males. They are free to act that way but I am free to not be around it. The word "progressive" is commonly misused these days as a substitute for "politically correct"

Why? There's no shortage of barbers, why not go to the lady who sings in choir at church or Jenny who you went to high school with?

Although I don't agree with you I appreciate your honesty. And more importantly, you have reasons to back up your answer.

For those who answered "yes" they would have him cut their hair, let me ask another question. Would u let someone cut your hair if they were wearing a Trump MAGA shirt? I suspect if people are being honest, many would say no, which goes to show this isn't about progressiveness as much as it's about an overall shift in values.

If they had given me a haircut before and it was a good haircut I would definitely let the cut my hair again. If it was my first time seeing them... I would still let them cut my hair. I go to Cost Cutters... I'm not that fussy.
