#457You wake up every morning, get dressed up, drive to work.
You get out of your car, and as you slam the door shut you realize this is your 100342th day at work doing the same thing over and over. Each step towards the building makes you sick to your stomach. You're in the elevator dreading the moment it reaches your floor.
Then you get out, and have to put the stupid fake smile on your face and say hello to everyone on your way to your cubicle or work station. You boot up your computer and your email is already full of
"Can you do this for me before noon? Thanks."
"Please be advised that today is <insert stupid fake day like 'AIDS awareness day'>, and so at 2pm everyone must come down to the lobby for a quick info session followed by tea and stale cookies"
"Hi, I glanced over that report you submitted. Even though I didn't read much, I think you should re-do it. Thanks, management."
You count the minutes until it is quitting time only to go home and get a bunch of bills in the mail. You are going nowhere and have no hope unless you hit the jackpot.
That is why you should gamble.Comment -

A New York state employee who usually joined coworkers in a Mega Millions lottery pool didn’t have the correct change — two $1 bills — the last time they collected, so he didn’t play. What the heck, Michael Kosko figured, we never hit anyway.Comment -

Never buy what you can lease, never lease what you can rent, never rent what you can borrow, never borrow what you can get for free.
Everyone else I know who lives paycheck to paycheck and who will always want for money all think ownership is awesome!!
Plus with renting, you're never chained to one spot or forced to try and sublet if you want to move on. I'm sending this reply from the condo I love, albeit the biggest mistake I've ever made.
Mistakes aside, I'm siding with the new rich now, and have been for years. Such a lovely place.Comment -

#486Which they either had passed down to them or bought after they already became rich (and they aint financing that shit like most of us suckers are, you can bet on that), so that has little to do with the argument. IMO, real estate is usually an inferior investment for the everyday man when there are other things out there that offer better compound interest.Comment -

#488this has to be thread of the year, so many deluded ideas and people.
I can imagine Mathy awakening from his sleep, it's midday, the smell of B.O. and dried *** wafts through his apartment. Making his way through the wave of pizza boxes and tissues he stumbles to his computer to see who's playing today so he can gamble away. He sits there for a couple of hours, he's made a decent profit, but still not enough compared to the working man. He walks to the bathroom to take a leak, he glances at the mirror and looks at himself. A skinny, pale figure with a nose reminiscent of a toucan looks back at him, he hasn't seen sunlight for days. He starts to realise he's actually a worthless human being, he has no friends, no job, no car...just his online
"friends". The only human interaction he gets is from the clerk at the sportsbook or amongst the gambling community, other than his parents. Mathy then hears a loud scream: "Mathy clean this fuckin room, what a fuckin pig stye!!!!", it's his mother, Mathy has been living at home all his life, this is the only life he knew, other than hosting evenings with his Mother and her Charade's group, seeing strange men visiting his mother come and go. It all becomes to much for Matt, realising he is a loser, and just Shit At Life, he decides to jump from the window, from the 27th floor.
He was never heard from again.BETTING EXCHANGES, easy money.

I'll totally admit that the happiest times have been sans job. 1) in school, and 2) between jobs.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment
