Anyone 25 years or older remembers a time when, in order to say something to someone, you had to say it to their face. For obvious reasons, this made it difficult to express how you really feel, mess with people, lie to people, and various other natural human behaviors.
When the internet came around, humans were quick to jump down the throats of strangers online in an anonymous fashion. For several years in the beginning, this was almost a cathartic practice. If you can think back far enough, nobody really cared. You got called a n***** f***** piece of c*** s*** on the AOL chat room, laughed it off, and went to hang out with your real friends.
Now, people actually care what others say to them online, and it truly makes me sick to my stomach.
It comes down to this -- why the f**k do you care? Sit down and think about that. Why in the f**k do you care what anonymous strangers say to you or about you on the internet?
If someone comes into your thread and says how bad your picks suck or how stupid you are, why the f**k do you care? Seriously, why? What are the repercussions of their actions?
The only possible result of their negative behavior is ruining your mood, which is a YOU problem. I want to go back to the mindset that everyone seemed to have when the internet was still fresh and not something we took seriously.
People were shitting their pants to even comprehend the existence of the internet in the 90s, which I think is why acting abhorrently in chat rooms and elsewhere was not a big deal. Now it's considered "cyber bullying" and it's an ACTUAL F**CKING CRIME in many states.
I just want you to sit down in a quiet room with your favorite beverage and really think about this. Why do you care if someone comes into your thread to tell you how bad your picks suck? How does that affect your life? Would ignoring them or responding with humor be better for all parties involved?
