#3I dont see the problem with their agenda
Can you address which items you have a problem with and why?
Theres an old saying in the white business community that we've all lived by for decades if not longer, and we all embrace it, but now that african americans are using it, we condone it... Once again, another double standard rears its ugle head
Anyways, the saying is "You won't receive what you don't ask for"
Who cares that they're asking for restitution which I believe they should receive, just like Native Americans receiveComment -

#7Casinos? No joke, that could work. I've worked closely with about a dozen Indian casinos as a consultant. They provide jobs and give tons of money to the local economy. They've also been quick financial fixes for a lot of depressed areas in the Midwest. Years later, that money is usually pissed away and the town is poor again, but at least they had a shot to make it work out. St. Louis for example is on an upswing due to great casino revenue.Comment -

#17Well there's a better than zero chance, I was born and raised there. Was there for a week in April and saw a big difference. Know people from my school that are in city planning and politics now that told me why. I wasn't in the inner city, but areas around that were getting sketchy look a lot better.Comment -

You are a liar. You are making crap up to either fit your agenda or to sound knowledgeable. Unfortunately you stumbled upon someone who knows the city and county very well.Comment -

#23The reparation is the privilege that the distant relatives of the slaves get to live in the United States and not Africa. Sure, slavery was wrong but the descendants of slaves now have a quality of life MANY times greater than what they would have in Africa.Comment -

#35BUl|shit. Everything is going to the counties west and south. Nothing that 'was' sketchy near the city is getting better.
You are a liar. You are making crap up to either fit your agenda or to sound knowledgeable. Unfortunately you stumbled upon someone who knows the city and county very well.
First off, we're talking about opinions when it comes to how well these areas are doing, so lying/not lying doesn't really apply here. Just thought we'd lead off with the obvious, maybe you didn't know this.
Everything in terms of white flight has already been moving to St. Charles county and JeffCo, that's not news. Remember too, young people often move back into St. Louis county, because the white flight counties are horrendously boring. Anyway, as far as St. Louis county goes, a lot of areas looked way nicer than when I was last there two years ago. Parts of Maryland Heights look unrecognizable now, there's definitely money going there, and I learned a lot of that was casino dollars. South City/Soulard doesn't look any different structurally, but I stayed there a couple of days and went all around. Not one sketchy element there. Way different than before. Then I heard police were cracking down hard in that area for preservation purposes. Made sense. I can keep going.
I mean it's cool you live there and all, but I did too, and since I don't live there anymore, I can see things from a distance, see the changes a bit easier, and not get all worked up about it. Just my take on my old hometown, nothing more. *shrug*Comment
