    Selling my car on Craigslist
Have a random coming to my place to check out my old ride in an hour or so. Never bought or sold on CL so not sure what to expect. How armed should I be for this encounter? Thinking simple 4 inch blade in my back pocket with the title. Is this enough? Should I hide my glock in my trousers as well?

Serious responses only this could be life or death.

i sold my car on craigslist before and nothing happened but this was about 10 years ago before all the crazy stories of people getting robbed and killed.

if they have a gun and try to rob you, just let them, it's what the insurance is for. you really don't want to have a shoot out in front of your house do you?

Good pieces of advice. Decided on sweatpants instead of pants for easier access to my 19 although the transaction went smoothly with no weapons drawn. Fukin guy didn't even negotiate, cash banded ready to go. Highly recommend.

Hey buddy, got any automobiles you'd be interested in selling?

Moved to whitebread OC a few years back so my street could actually use some excitement like a craigslist deal gone wrong.

I agree, don't meet them at your house. I use to sell things on CL and the main issue is you agree upon a price and when they show up they try to undercut it. It happened almost every time I sold on CL.

He didn't try any of that funny business gums but I was warned of the same thing. Maybe he read this post and knew I was armed so didn't try it?

Or maybe you look like a mark?

Both doubtful, but you never know...

I like the police station parking lot idea and a cashier's check for anything over a hundy Unless you are good at spotting counterfeit bills. Shit happens way more than you think. Also, depending on your state, you're going to have to sign over the title & he/she will have your info. So, you may as well make it an amicable transaction.

As far as the haggling, you have to make it clear that the price is firm and you walk at the mention of a counteroffer. You can't afford to be ran over like gummo.

My last sale was like that, sold my dads truck for him, 14k firm. We met in a grocery store parking lot by the guys house. He walked around the truck once, got in and started it up, popped the hood, walked over to his truck and handed me an envelope with 14k in it and we filled out the paperwork.

That's really good advice. I'll add that your local PD "Allowing" public use of public property is laughable (Not you, them). Encourage all to make these type of legal transactions on local citizen PD assigned property.

More good advice. I did notice the small "change" band was old little faced 100s so inspected them close but they were all pre 90 so I couldn't tell and didnt say anything

Almost shit myself when the ATM wouldn't accept them this morning and had to go wait in a long ass line in the branch and have them checked out. Teller straight up turns around and says "I think we've got some more of the fakes" before the manager cleared them. Had a nice sweat there for 700 bucks

Damn, that would have been a sweat. I've had a few friends where the bank suspects counterfeit bills after an ATM deposit. Has to be investigated by secret service, funds put on hold...pain in the ass. Each time, the bills were legit.

gummo is good peoples. MN nice.

You always deal with cash only when selling a vehicle. I don't care if you're selling a vehicle for $9,000.00
